Rare Early Tod Gordon Interview From 1998
We just found this video uploaded on YouTube roughly a week ago (found on this channel) featuring an interview with Tod Gordon from 1998. This covers his first decade in the professional wrestling industry up to that point in time.
There is a funny story about why The Sandman wasn't on the first Eastern Championship Wrestling show (around the 6:45 mark) at the Original Sports Bar. Sandman's first ECW show was on the company's 3rd event.
Tod discusses a lot of the company's early history including mentions of JT Smith, Don E. Allen, manager Hunter Q. Robbins III, and more. He talks about the early history of the company including the Sports Channel exposure in Philadelphia, hiring Eddie Gilbert, and Tod's desire to make Philadelphia into the "new Memphis territory" at the time. He also talks about what he asked the big name stars whom he brought in early in the company's history to help elevate the local talent. Tod also discusses his bringing in Terry Funk and Funk's credit for building the company. Paul E. Dangerously's early history with the company also was covered by Tod and how Eddie Gilbert brought in Paul.
