ECW's Second TV Theme Music - Speed Zone

avatar

One thing for which ECW is widely known is its use of music throughout so much of its live events as well as TV programming. Many fans associate the track "This Is Extreme" -- and its many versions -- as being the only ECW television show theme music. In actuality, however, there have been at least 8 pieces of music used as the "ECW TV intro music".

The first is an unknown track used before ECW had its "Hardcore TV" show start in 1993. In the summer of 1992, there were a handful of "Eastern Championship Wrestling Weekly" shows. Here is the first show with the music starting right away:

The second theme (at the top of this post) is called "Speed Zone" and even supposedly was used by WWF in 1994. According to this website page (https://wrestlingthemes.wordpress.com/ecw-l-z-ecw-shows/) the people credited for the "Speed Zone" track are:

Stephan C. Truitt, Howard Pfeifer/ John Bahler/ Josef Lubinsky/ Matt Mukoberac

This resource doesn't list Truitt (also known in ECW as manager and color commentator "Stevie Wonderful"):

Other themes for the TV show intro will be in a future post including Metallica's "Sad But True", Jackly's "I Stand Alone", and others.

The videos for specific events, such as Ultraclash 1993, had slightly different intro music as well:

Here is the original version of "This Is Extreme" by Harry Slash & The Slashtones:
