Cannabis Plants. 5-16-2022 and I minted my first NFT.
Yesterday, I applied compost tea as a foliar spray to the cannabis in the greenhouse and outside of it on the food crops. I gave each cannabis plant compost tea a gallon or so of the tea as well directly into the soil. We also added barley straw as a top cover mulch for the greenhouse plants and plants outside of the greenhouse a few days ago.
Everything is loving it! I went over the soil analysis I did last week for the soil for our Mango Kush with my Soil Food Web school mentor and he was surprised at how far ahead I am with the microscope and the decent amount of prey-predator interactions in the soil ie protozoa eating bacteria, nematodes eating nematodes and bacteria but most importantly no real concerning pathogens, or rather large numbers yet. Which by the way I minted an NFT of a Bacterial Omnivore Nematode over at @nftshowroom and it includes an unlockable MP4 video file of the nematode.
My school mentor said even with the low fungi numbers the high amount of predator prey interactions I have is almost more important and since I have that I will see great results... If I continue on a bi-weekly regimen of Compost Extracts and a biweekly treatment of compost teas. Essentially weekly treatments of some form of a compost input.

We are going to get mushroom spores soon for under the straw. Ideally we will plant clover with each layer of mulch added but it does get pricey esp when it is not your garden lol 😅

So out of curiosity, what part of day do you do your Compost Foliar spray?
Good question! According to Elaine who did a case study on this question found that it does not matter what time and amount of sun.
However, I personally wouldnt do it in the summer in direct sun when over 105-110 F. Essentially, it is more important to not let the tea brew longer than it should brew causing loss of oxygen and anaerobic conditions or to have tea sitting around when ready as microbial life dies rapidly.
Also note that a well brewed tea will be primarily microbes (aerobic) and the food sources will be or should be consumed so there shouldnt be any concerns about that.

Also I used minimal food. ie 1ml of molasses per gallon or 1 ml of fish hydrolysate per gallon. Also add the foods first. Too much food can deplete the oxygen in the brew causing anaerobic conditions.
Dam these girls are looking good, Finally, love reading and watching another no-till grow. I tried straw once but It sucked the nitrogen from the plants.
Interesting. Was it organic? Usually there can be weird chemicals and pesticides on barley, alfalfa or straw in general, if not organic, that can harm your crop detrimentally.
They said it was but I am don't think it was, I took it off after a couple weeks.
