SEA MONSTER

One of these days I am going to set a weekly timer for my entries into the Splinterlands Art Contest. You wouldn't believe I had drawn, edited and even uploaded this piece since Tuesday but somehow it has slipped my mind to post it. I woke up to the bright Sunlight and it came to my mind as though the rays illuminated my dark tunnel that I haven't shared this art with you.
The Sea Monster is a common legend in many cultutes and it takes different shapes and sizes but this one takes the form of a Serpent. When I see creatures like this, I always pray I don't come accross them physically.
I intended making many changes to the layout from inception but then I noticed it wasn't in itself conventional so I left it that way
after noticing how the body of the serpent was blueish with some sky blue, I reasoned that coating it with black again (even though it was my signature move) will taint what I aim to achieve so I left it and focused on the little greens here and there, hoping to create a light and depth effect with my pressure.
The next thing I did was to shade the mouth, tongue and teeth of the serpent. I also tried representing a wave movement around it but it didn't pan out as expected so I left it unfinished.
To variate its look, I decided to use my black ink for its spikes instead of deep blue. You can also see how well I used black at intervals to signify depth.
All that was left were the shades of blue. First I dealt with the lighter shade
then the blue itself.
To arrive at an wholesome piece, I went over every detail the second time and eventually ended up with this.
The materials I used while making this sketch are Blue, Black, Green and Purple pens.
This is beautiful! I love the texture 💗✨
