DuceCrypto's S172 - Splinter Stats Ranked Rewards Season 85 Report Card
Might as well jump right to the headline of my Season 172 instead of waiting for the SPS section: I mined over 20000 SPS from my 8 occupied plots! I've certainly been vocal about how boring the land expansion is and how it is sucking up scarce Gold Foil cards from early sets like Alpha, Beta, and Untamed. Well, take it from me that mining a fat bag of SPS will make you feel less salty about land, that's for sure!
I didn't get to play as much Modern ranked as I would have liked in S172, and my tournament performance was abysmal. Literally my worst seasonal tournament return so far in 2025 by a few thousand SPS. Not good!
But the game is still so much fun to play, I cannot get enough! It's become even more interesting in recent weeks as the people who play in Champion Ranked start to incorporate more of the maxed CA reward cards into their lineups. Onto the stats...

Although I managed a Champion 1 finish in both formats, I wasn't able to crack the Top 50 leaderboard in either. Just a minimum 100K Glint for Top 100 in Modern and Wild, but that's still plenty helpful while I'm working on filling out my Conclave Arcana reward card set.
Over 232 battles in Modern, I finished with a 55.2% win rate. I didn't get to 4300 rating until the last few days of the season, so I didn't make much progress once I cleared the Champion 1 loot chests.
Over 259 battles in Wild, archmage finished with a 57.5% win rate. This is a nice improvement over how I did last season, despite the few cards I pulled from my wild collection to put on land. I didn't lock up anything played within the last month, since I still want a strong collection for competitive tournament play.
Missing some fringe cards can cost a few percentage points when bots are automating the best possible lineups for triple rulesets. But then I remind myself how well I'm doing mining SPS on land, so I don't mind playing a few suboptimal lineups in Wild every now and again.

While the tournament results listed here would have you believe I got 4972 SPS from the @sps.dao events in Season 172, sadly that total is inflated. If you look more closely, five events are showing that I fled with zero wins but still awarded SPS for finishing in a prize place. Of course, for experienced Splinterlands battlemages, we know that if you don't get any wins, then you don't qualify for any prize.
The accurate earnings for my tournament participation in Season 172 were 4121.2 SPS. One of the reasons for the lower SPS total was that, due to the timing and scheduling of events in S172, there was no Modern Expert GF event. Interestingly, there were 2 of them in S171. Those Expert GF events are my biggest earning events, so missing one of those significantly impacts my tournament purse.
Of the 14 events I played, I fled from 6 of them completely and only managed one win before fleeing from another 3 of them. That leaves 5 events where I played all available battles, and I only made Day 2 TWICE. See, I told you this was an awful season!
My biggest prize was 1762 SPS for going 5-4 in the Wild Expert GF event, while my best record was 17-4 in the Wild Advanced RF event. Overall, I averaged just 294 SPS per event over the 14 tournaments I entered in S172. But when you take away the 6 events that I fled from, that average improves to 515 SPS from 8 total events.
That still leaves me with lots of room for tournament results growth, especially considering I was regularly earning well over 10K SPS per season over the first half of 2025. I've pulled back from playing all of the lower-level, lower-payday GF events, but I should be plenty able to find time for the intermediate, advanced, and expert-level events I've been signing up for. Here's to hoping my tournament performance gets better as we turn the page on 2025.

The reward report is looking good for Season 172. I topped 1M Glint again, which is nice as I continue to work towards completing my CA reward card set. It sure does cost a lot more Glint this time around (compared to Rebellion), so I'm definitely a bit more thoughtful about spending Glint past the first batch of each reward type.
In Modern Ranked, I earned a total of 6168 SPS, working out to an average of 26.6 SPS per battle over 232 battles and 48.2 SPS per win over 128 wins.
In Wild Ranked, I earned a total of 2652 SPS, working out to an average of 10.2 SPS per battle over 259 battles and 17.8 SPS per win over 149 wins.
If I can improve on my win rate, especially in the early season, then I should be able to improve on all of these averages across the board. Moving up in rating early gives better SPS per win returns over the course of a season.

Like I said in the open, look at that insane seasonal SPS total for land rewards... 20061 SPS! I'm definitely paying out some DEC to recoup the extra resources needed for the SPS mines, but most of that DEC comes from my rental account, so I'm not tracking the expense as much as I should. Better to focus on the positive, am I right?!
Staking rewards continue to climb closer to 2K SPS per season as my staked SPS total gets closer to the 1 million threshold. With land harvests like that, I should hopefully be able to eclipse 1M staked by the end of January 2026! On the other hand, brawl rewards continue to lag as more guilds join Tier 5, and our own guild participation has been a bit spottier than we would like for the top guild in all of Splinterlands!
Big picture though, I am over the moon with net SPS rewards of 31394 SPS. Despite some DEC outflow for land and tournaments, the earned SPS goes straight to my stake and stays there. I've been dreaming of hitting 1M SPS for so long, and that day is getting closer!
What a Season 172 in Splinterlands. From the crazy total of 20K SPS mined from land to another 11K SPS earned from ranked, stake, and brawl, it feels like the season was a huge success as we look towards the new year. Add in the 4121 SPS from the SPS DAO tournaments, and I cleared 35515 SPS over the full season. Based on today's SPS spot price of 0.0063 USD, I banked over $223 in SPS earnings. That's not even valuing any of the Glint, scrolls, potions, merits, and reward cards I earned! As you can see, Splinterlands continues to be a rewarding game in terms of strategic competition, resource management, and accumulating crypto. I'm so excited to finish the year strong and look forward to all the new advancements for land and the Conclave Arcana mini set in the new year! Until next time...
