DuceCrypto's S153 - Splinter Stats Ranked Rewards Season 66 Report Card

Welcome back to my Splinterlands Report Card series for S153. I enjoyed some record-breaking successes but also suffered a few setbacks during the 13-day season. Notably, I finally made the time to play more manual Modern battles than botted Wild battles. Unfortunately, I missed the mark with tournament events mostly due to the end time happening during the wee hours of the morning. Let's jump into the numbers and see what the data shows us.

Performance

Regarding records, I earned my highest-ever Modern ranking of 4500 during S153. My old record of a 4447 rating was achieved by a bot service when it was still allowed in the Modern format. It feels good to know that my highest Modern success was achieved manually rather than using a bot service.

For the second straight season, I achieved Champion 1 in both formats! In S153, I played more Modern battles (218) than Wild battles (195) for the first time in a long time. With only an hour left in the season, I was sitting in 51st place outside of the Modern leaderboard so I tried to win a few last battles to secure some DEC prize. But it wasn't meant to be and I lost the last three battles of the season to finish at 4440 in 56th place.

In Modern, I won 124 of 218 battles for a win rate of almost 57%. In Wild, the automated service won an insane two-thirds of its battles with 130 wins in 195 battles. Despite the lower battle count, I still achieved a Top 25 finish to earn 40000 DEC in the last leaderboard for DEC prizes. Next season will be the first season where leaderboards will give out Glint prizes for leaderboards in each league.

There was a marked increase in my earned SPS from Ranked Rewards due to playing and winning more battles in Modern. Despite the shorter season and fewer wins, I earned nearly 50% more SPS in S153 than in S152. It definitely encourages me to make the time to play more Modern battles because I enjoy the challenge of doing it myself and of course all the extra earned SPS!

⭐ SPS Report

All the extra modern battles did come at a cost, namely my tournament success. My tournament winnings were down significantly from last season, nearly 50%! In S153, I earned just 8272.2 SPS from @sps.dao tournament events, compared to nearly 16K SPS in the prior season.

I signed up for roughly the same type of events but the main cause for this drop-off was that my rate for fleeing tournaments was much higher in S153. Part of this was because of the new end-time of the events for this season, which was during the wee hours of the morning (3:30am and 4:30am).

Despite these being 24-hour events allowing players to submit battles whenever is convenient, I much prefer to wait until the last few hours of an event so that my opponent's lineup is already submitted and I get to witness the battle play out. Well this approach doesn't work out too well when I'm fast asleep during the last few hours before the tournaments end.

While I was busy playing more Modern Ranked battles, I was neglecting the tournament battles that needed to get played. Of the 24 events I registered for, I fled Day 1 in half of them, including a big payday in the Modern Diamond Gold Foil event. Of the 12 tournaments I played, I earned prizes in all of them! Next season, I need to make sure I'm playing in all the events I register for!

I'm not sure why, but my staking rewards are way down from last season. I didn't unstake any SPS during S153. In fact, I staked an additional 100K SPS that I recently bought on the quick dip to 0.006 USD. If anything, my staking rewards should reflect an increase from last season since I've staked an additional 25% more SPS.

On the other hand, my Land Rewards are way up due to the additional resources I've allocated to farming SPS on my plots. I will have to make some substantial updates to my land allocations soon since the Land 1.75 update changes how resources apply to SPS mining. But I won't worry about that stuff too much until the changes are out and I have the complete picture to make my decisions.

S153 ends an era of Ranked Rewards since the new Survival battle mode begins in S154, adding a new battle mode to earn Ranked Rewards. I refuse to put any of my primary set of maxed cards at risk in survivor mode since I use them for Wild Ranked and tournament play every day. Instead, for the first season anyway, I will only use extra soulbound reward cards on my account and see how well I survive.

Turning to my SPS earnings, I received 9587 SPS from my five reward streams and an additional 8272 SPS from @sps.dao tournaments for a combined 17859 SPS. Based on today's spot price of 0.0061 USD, I earned about $109 during the shortened 13-day S153. Without a doubt, I would have earned $10/day if I remembered to play all my tournaments, so hopefully in S154 I will be able to return that earning threshold.
