Splinterlands - Can I make a midnight potion??

Conclave Arcana Presale is live, Midnight potions crafting is a week away, but am I ready?

Short Answer - No, Longer Answer - definitely not!

I'm starting from scratch with my research, should have listened to Matt 😂

My current Research is 10, only 9990 to go! at current production rate of 0.06 per hour it will only take me 166,500 hours or 6,937 days or 19 years to get a permit.

So it looks like in the near future I'll be buying Midnight Potions I need from the potion shop, I'll be paying other land owners for my indecision on moving on land earlier, win some - lose some. But I will be building up my research as we go and hopefully by the end of the year I'll be in a position to make my own.

Side note - think the Legendary and Alchemy potion artwork needs a revamp.

The shop will soon have Midnight potions available, or will it? how many people will be making potions? and if they are making will they be selling or using? it's going to be an interesting few weeks on the lead up to the Conclave Arcana release date.

The Process

I'm at the beginning of the end to end flow of potion crafting, the work flow is pretty self explanatory:

1. Produce research
2. Use research to get an Aura Lab Permit from the Artisan Quarter screen
3. Construct an Aura Lab, which will use your newly acquired permit
4. Harvest Aura from your Aura Lab
5. Go to the Artisan Quarter screen and craft Midnight Potions from your Aura
6. Use the Midnight Potions when you open Conclave Arcana packs, or sell them to other players on the Non Card Market.

The Aura Lab permit will be soul bound, and if you have a land with an Aura lab built it will not be able to be transferred to another account (i.e. you will need to change to another worksite before selling)

The Cost

each pp will require
• Grain – 0.02
• Wood – 0.005
• Stone – 0.002
• Iron – 0.0005

to produce 0.0005 Aura and a midnight potion will cost 40 Aura.

40*0.0005 = 80,000

• Grain – 0.02 * 80,000 = 1,600
• Wood – 0.005 * 80,000 = 400
• Stone – 0.002 * 80,000 = 160
• Iron – 0.0005 * 80,000 = 40

Cost to produce in DEC at current prices (22/04/2025)

• Grain – 14.35
• Wood – 12.89
• Stone – 17.04
• Iron – 13.94

Total - 58.22 dec

Will be interesting to see what price these show up at in the store, I would expect high value for the first few weeks until the crafters have used their own potions to open Conclave Arcana packs but decreasing to just above cost. Although if more potions (e.g. survival) or more use cases for resources (e.g. conflict wagons) arrive then it will increase costs of resources too.
