My Fear of Clowns made into Art and an NFT

I have always feared clowns.

Long before Mr. King scared us all or the clown doll in Poltergeist frightened me, they just seemed a bit nefarious.

I then entered a contest (I believe it was back in Steem days) either about clowns or fears, either way those two concepts lived together in my mind so it really didn't matter either way

So I addressed my clown fears in a way I found enjoyable: painting "ginger-haired" ladies.

It started with a sketch

I could handle her thus, almost a courtesan picturing powdered wigs and the like.

Then I played with style lines, as I like to do, to get a feel for a thing

This was one the 'creep' started to creep in for I had to 'paint her face' in a clownish way...even in the drawing lines I felt the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.

It felt safer now to play with color
What color would she be, what grease paint and exaggerated expression would this clown wear? There'd be no floppy shoes or honking horn for my clown.

She was born in all her menacing glory

Staring into my soul and giving me a 'what for'. But, as I looked at her more , printed her out and hung her on my 'done' corkboard in my studio she sort of grew on me.

Her bold brash hair and burning gaze rather came to haunt me, in a good way. And I'd forgot about her until this past month I was doing the 'sort through things in the studio' game we artists often play and she re-entered my life.

I realized she needed a new life
another chance to creep out or draw in someone else, thus with some fun playing around a bit I've made her an NFT on the #nftshowrooms She is not dear to own a mere 25 hive but I've only made 5 of her, I still want her 'creepy beauty' to be rare :)
