The Ruleset

image.png

  • Rulesets - Ferocity & Heavy Metal
  • Mana Cap - 25
  • Active Elements - image.png image.png

image.png

Here's my starting lineup

Summoner: Octavia Shadowmeld

  • With the ruleset and element pick that I got I really did not have many options to play
  • Only 2 elements were active Life and Death
  • Also Heavy Metal was active which meant little more than half of my entire collection was unplayable
  • And if that was not enough the mana cap was also quite low being 25 so I really needed to find a low mana cost team from two possible elements and all of the monsters I wanted to play needed to have at least 1 armor
  • So in my case I went with Death element and Octavia Shadowmeld as my summoner because I had more playable monster in Death element over Life
1st Position: Xulax Nightwind

  • Xulax Nightwind was my main tank for this battle
  • Main reason I like Xulax Nightwind here a lot is his Bloodlust and Thorns abilities
  • Even tho Xulax Nightwind costs a wopping 9 mana I still decided to play him as I really did not have any other better tank to play
  • And for that 9 mana I got a great monster with great stats and abilities
  • Void Armor - Magic damage hits armor before health
  • Bloodlust - Every time this Unit defeats an opponent, it gets +1 to all stats
  • Thorns - Returns 2 physical damage to attacker when hit by a melee attack
2nd Position: Uraeus

  • Uraeus was my first low mana damage dealer with at least 1 armor so he would be playable in this battle
  • You might see the pattern in my posts as I play Uraeus in almost all of my battles just because how good this card is
  • For only 3 mana you get so many stats and he is also neutral which means he is playable in almost all battles
  • Sneak - Targets the enemy unit in the last position
3rd Position: Broken Earth Thug

image.png

  • And for my second low mana backline attacker was Broken Earth Thug
  • Just like Uraeus if not better as you get same stats but one more ability which being Cripple
  • But the thing that makes him worse in my eyes is that he is only playable in Death element matches not like Uraeus who is playable in almost all battles as he is neutral monster
  • But for this battle I would say Broken Earth Thug is better and fits into my team quite decently
  • Opportunity - Targets the enemy unit with the least health
  • Cripple - -1 to target's max health after each successful attack. Does not affect units with Immunity
4th Position: Chaos Animator

  • For last but not least I had my 2 mana left and I was lost on what I was going to play
  • I was scrolling trough my possibilities and ended up on Chaos Animator
  • There were two reasons I decided to play him one was that he was going to be my backline tank and the second was that even at level one he had one great ability which I was planning to take advantage off and that ability was Amplify
  • Amplify - Increases damage of Retaliate, Corrosive Ward, Deflect, Return Fire, and Thorns for all friendly units by 1. Does not stack

Starting board

image.png

  • After seeing the starting board I was quite scared for a moment as I saw my enemy playing strong tank and the classic two no attack monsters + Weapons Training
  • Then I saw that my enemy did not play Weapons Training and my confidents came back real quick
  • The only idea that I had was that he misclicked and picked Olivia of the Brook instead of playing Aves Sturgis as they are next to each other in the picking phase.
  • That left me with a decent team and my enemy with not that great team
  • But my predictions could still be off by a mile so lets start the battle and have a look

Here's how the battle went

1st & 2nd Round

image.png

  • After the first two rounds the board was still looking quite the same as in the start
  • I had lost one of my backline damage dealers which was sad for a second
  • Than I realized that my only worries was that his Olivia of the Brook would not steal my Bloodlust with his Mimic as that you possible get him couple of take downs and therefor make him even stronger
  • But anything could still happen so lets keep watching
3rd & 4th Round

image.png

  • In the next two rounds I managed to lose another one of my monsters but I really did not care anymore at this point
  • And the reason why I did not care was that after those two rounds my enemies Mimic Still had not gotten my Bloodlust and now he was in the first position making him almost useless as he was dealing only two damage per round while I was dealing 5 with an attack and 3 with my buffed Thorns
  • This was the point were I felt like the battle was 100% over and I was taking this victory home
  • Lets make one more stop when his Olivia of the Brook falls so there is no question about the ending of the battle
5th Round

image.png

  • It only took me 1 round to take down my enemies Olivia of the Brook
  • my 5 damage attack took down his 4 armor and then his melee attack triggered my 3 damage Thorns which ended him off
  • Now I just needed to wait for the start of the next couple of rounds and then face my victory
  • If I managed to hit my attacks two rounds in a row the battle should be over with those two rounds lets hope for a quite ending as there is not way my enemy is coming back from his situation
6th & 7th Round

image.png

  • It took me 2 rounds and to 2 attacks to kill my enemies last standing monster
  • After his Nimbledook Explorer had fallen I took the victory

Summary

  • This battle was definitely heavily one sided but still fun to watch
  • There is not a strategy to take away from this battle sadly from my side but make sure you do not misclick in the picking phase like my enemy did in this battle
  • Miss picking your team could be the difference between winning and losing you battle even if you have the right team in mind so make sure you are entering the correct team each time you battle
