The Ruleset

image.png

  • Rulesets - Wands Out & Back to Basics
  • Mana Cap - 18
  • Active Elements - image.png image.png image.png

Here's my starting lineup

Summoner: Immortalis

  • With the ruleset and element pick that I got I knew I had to play a magic comp and so did my enemy
  • For secondly as Back to Basics was active both teams were going to be super simple magic comps with no abilities
  • That in mind I needed a summoner that would get me a headstart in this battle
  • So in my case I went with earth element and Immortalis as my summoner just because of his Void ability
  • Void - 50% less damage (rounded up) from magic attacks or 0 damage from magic attacks of 1 power
  • Shatter - Successful attacks destroy the target's armor
1st Position: Regal Peryton

  • Regal Peryton was my main tank for this battle
  • Main reason I like Regal Peryton here a lot is his high hp count for only five mana cost
  • Also his other stats were decent enough for 5 mana being 2 magic damage and 6 speed
  • Flying - +25% chance to evade physical attacks. No effect if the attacker also has Flying. Immune to Earthquake
2nd Position: Madcap Magus

  • Now as the mana cap was quite low and I had already spent most of it on my summoner and a tank for the front I needed someone cheap but still with decent amount of damage output
  • So I picked Madcap Magus as one of them only because of his 2 magic damage
  • Scattershot - Magic and ranged attacks target a random enemy unit
  • Life Leech - Increases health and max health by 50% of damage dealt (rounded up)
3rd Position: Djinn Biljka

  • And for last but not least with my other half of leftover mana I got a shine golden Djinn Biljka
  • Basically same story goes here
  • As water and death elements were off the board I really did not see my enemy playing a summoner that does -1 magic damage to my whole team so I really needed cheap 2 magic damage monsters
  • Camouflage - Cannot be directly targeted unless in the first position. Does not affect indirect attacks (e.g. Scattershot, Blast splash damage, or Trample) or Wingbreak
  • Void - 50% less damage (rounded up) from magic attacks or 0 damage from magic attacks of 1 power

Starting board

image.png

  • Already after seeing the starting board I was quite confident I would win the battle just because of our summoner diffs
  • Even tho he played a summoner that gives +1 magic damage to his whole board my monsters all had Void which meant I was dealing 6 damage per round and my enemy was only dealing 3 damage per round
  • So even tho my enemy had 5 more hp on his board I was just dealing a lot more damage
  • I hope my predictions are right but lets still start the battle and have a look

Here's how the battle went

1st Round

image.png

  • After first round the board was still looking quite the same as in the start
  • I had lost 3 hp and my enemy had lost 6 hp
  • Lets keep watching and praying that my calculations were correct
2nd Round

image.png

  • After 2nd round I was starting to look really scary because I forgot to take speed into account
  • Not that I or my enemy could miss attacks because every monster was magic but because of speed difference the attack order was going to decided to faith of the battle
  • Lets hope for the best and keep watching
3rd Round

image.png

  • 3rd Round was so huge for me as the attack order came in clutch
  • If my enemy would have attacked first and killed my Madcap Magus without him being able to get his attack off the battle would have come down to 50/50 with the last attack order deciding the battle but as I lucked out the battle was now 100% decided
  • Now I just needed to wait for the start of the next and final round and then claim my victory
4th Round

image.png

  • I managed to attack first and that was all it took to kill my enemies last standing monster
  • After his Khmer Princess had fallen I took the victory

Summary

  • This battle was definitely closer than I would have wanted but still fun to watch as win is a win
  • The strategy to take away from this battle is that Immortalis is unbeatable in Wands Out ruleset battles
