The Ruleset

image.png

  • Rulesets - Earthquake & Equalizer
  • Mana Cap - 57
  • Active Elements - image.png image.png image.png

Here's my starting lineup

Summoner: Helios Matriarch

  • With the ruleset and element pick that I got there was only a single element that I had in mind
  • That element was Dragon as I had a monster with Wingbreak there which was necessary to counter my enemy playing Flying monsters
  • As Dragon element can pick a second element with it I took Earth mainly because my other great Flying monsters were there
  • Conscript - One extra gladiator card may be used in battle
1st Position: Pelacor Mercenary

  • Pelacor Mercenary was my main tank for this battle
  • Main reason I like Pelacor Mercenary here a lot is his Flying + Heal abilities
  • Flying - +25% chance to evade physical attacks. No effect if the attacker also has Flying. Immune to Earthquake
  • Heal - Each round, restores 1/3 of max health (rounded down)
2nd Position: Quora Towershead

  • As my summoner had the Conscript ability I did not want it do go to waist so I just had to play a Gladius monster
  • Even tho Quora Towershead did not have the Flying ability I still played him as he did have the Heal ability which made him him actually better because he was 4 hp every round and only taking 2 hp damage
  • Bloodlust - +1 to all stats after dealing a killing blow
  • Heal - Each round, restores 1/3 of max health (rounded down)
  • Immunity - Provides immunity to magic debuffs and Cripple
3rd Position: Chaos Dragon

  • As I still had a lot of mana left I decided to play one high mana cost monster next
  • Sadly I only have him in level 1 which makes him not that great but still playable for this team
  • But I was after his Flying ability anyway so its fine
  • Flying - +25% chance to evade physical attacks. No effect if the attacker also has Flying. Immune to Earthquake
  • Scattershot - Magic and ranged attacks target a random enemy unit
4th Position: Halaran Huntress

image.png

  • Next up was my take one countering my enemy playing Flying monsters himself
  • For 4 mana Halaran Huntress had an amazing stats and also two wonderful abilities that I was after for being Flying and Snare
  • Flying - +25% chance to evade physical attacks. No effect if the attacker also has Flying. Immune to Earthquake
  • Charge - Can use melee attacks from any position
  • Snare - 100% chance to hit and apply Snared to targets with Flying. Snared units lose all bonuses from Flying
5th Position: Night Reaper

image.png

  • Now came my most valuable monster in this team
  • Also a high cost monster but his Wingbreak made him so worth it in my opinion
  • Flying - +25% chance to evade physical attacks. No effect if the attacker also has Flying. Immune to Earthquake
  • Wingbreak - Always targets the first Flying enemy unit regardless of position, abilities, or modifiers. +2 damage if the target has Flying
6th Position: Regal Peryton

  • And for last but not least was my wonderful and cheap backline tank Regal Peryton
  • The reason I needed backline tank was because earth was active and in my rank people really like playing Katrelba Gobson
  • If not taken into account your team could really easily be melted with a couple of Bloodlust takedowns
  • So in my case I played a high speed + Flying monster in the back to counter it happening
  • Flying - +25% chance to evade physical attacks. No effect if the attacker also has Flying. Immune to Earthquake

Starting board

image.png

  • After seeing the starting board I was both happy and scared at the same time
  • My enemy did play Katrelba Gobson as I predicted but now he also had to miss decent amount of his hits otherwise he gonna get a lot of takedowns and carry this battle single handedly
  • But to find this out we need to start the battle and have a look

image.png

Here's how the battle went

1st, 2nd & 3rd Round

image.png

  • After three rounds the board finally started to go my way
  • But I was still so scared because even tho his Katrelba Gobson had missed a lot of his attacks he still had a chance
  • On the positive side my team was still all alive and also my Bloodlust monster had gotten one of the takedowns
  • But anything could still happen so lets keep watching
4th Round

image.png

  • After 4th Round the battle was 100% confirmed as I managed to take down two more enemy monsters leaving him with last two
  • At this point I started to cheer my team winning this battle without any of them falling as victory was in a bag anyway
  • Lets hope for the best and keep watching
5th Round

image.png

  • This round also confirmed that I was going to win this battle without losing any of my monsters
  • Now I just needed to wait for the start of the next round and then face my victory
6th Round

image.png

  • It took me couple of attacks to kill my enemies last standing monster
  • After his Dumacke Orc had fallen I took the victory
  • Battle Replay Link

Summary

  • This battle was definitely heavily one sided in the end but still fun to watch
  • The battle is totally owed to my backline tank Regal Peryton for not giving about and being missed so many time without him the battle would have definitely been with a different ending
  • It is always a great practice to think about not only about your own team but also what your enemy might play

What an amazing battle. I liked that you used Quora Towershade, it is one of my favorite Gladius cards in he game. Keep playing and growing.
