Splinterlands Battle Of The Week: Maxed deck vs Immortalis
The Ruleset

- Rulesets - Unprotected & Back to Basics
- Mana Cap - 41
- Active Elements -
Here's my starting lineup
Summoner: Immortalis

- With the ruleset and element pick that I got I knew my enemy was most likely to play so type of magic based comp as Back to Basics was active
- So in my case I went with earth element and Immortalis as my summoner because he is possible one of the best summoner when it comes to countering magic teams
- His Shatter was totally useless for this battle as Unprotected was active but that did not bother me even a little bit as the Void was the ability I was after
- Void - 50% less damage (rounded up) from magic attacks or 0 damage from magic attacks of 1 power
- Shatter - Successful attacks destroy the target's armor
1st Position: Halfling Refugee

- Every battle were Back to Basics is active I really like to play all of the possible selfharm monsters as with this ruleset active they are just really strong cards for very low mana and without there selfharm abilities
- Just how can you say no to 3 melee damage, 3 speed and 6 hp for only 1 mana
- Weary - At the beginning of round 1, Weary units have a 10% chance to become Exhausted. This chance increases by 10% every round, up to a maximum of 80%. Exhausted units skip their turn and cannot Retaliate
2nd Position: Hill Giant

- And for my second tank was Hill Giant
- Picked him mainly because I needed a second melee monster for my team and he also had great stats for low mana
- As all other melee monster who would be able to attack from the backline position were out of the question and magic monsters would have came me too little stats for my three mana I decided to play a second melee monster and just let him chill until he gets knocked to the first position
3rd Position: Mycelic Slipspawn

- Mycelic Slipspawn was my only magic monster for this team
- The reason for it was that I was quite scared of my enemy playing some kind of magic counter summoner the way I did as magic was definitely the best attack type to play with these rulesets
- Taunt - Draws the attacks of enemy units. Does not affect Reach, Scattershot, Wingbreak, or enemy units in the first position
- Forcefield - Attacks dealing 5 base damage or more instead deal 1 damage
4th Position: Quilliun Legionary

- Now came my ranged monsters starting with Quilliun Legionary
- Even tho his cost is quite high I still played him as I really needed some kind of tank ranged monster incase the battle should go on long enough for then to start tanking
- And I could have only gotten one more damage but would have lost a lot of tankiness with other ranged monsters
- Close Range - Can use ranged attacks from the first position
- Thorns - Returns 2 physical damage to attacker when hit by a melee attack
5th Position: Hunter Jarx

- Hunter Jarx was in the middle position when looking at the ranged monster because of his stats
- His damage was 3 which is great but not the best but for that he also has quite tanky hp amount
- Snipe - Magic and ranged attacks target the first non-melee enemy unit behind the first position
6th Position: Mitica Headhunter

- For last but not least was my highest damage ranged monster
- Paired with his high damage was his high speed which made him a wonderful damage dealer for my backline were nobody could get to him unless he gets to the first position which by then already would mean I had lost the battle
- Snare - 100% chance to hit and apply Snared to targets with Flying. Snared units lose all bonuses from Flying
Starting board

- After seeing the starting board I was quite scared as my enemy had almost maxed team
- Secondly my enemy did not play a summoner that would have debuffed my magic monster so I would have been better of playing more magic monsters
- But one thing was good and that was that my enemies team was probably built by bot or maybe he just thought his high level team was strong enough that the positioning did not matter as his ranged monster was totally out of position and also his magic monsters were in the wrong order
- I was prepared to lose this battle but still decided to watch it out as you never know
Here's how the battle went
1st Round

- After first round we kinda traded monsters
- Even tho I had lost two and he lost only one I was going to take down another one of his monster in the first attack of the next round which will bring the total to two for two
- Anything could still happen so lets keep watching
2nd Round

- 2nd Round was huge for me as I managed to take down his first magic monster already and because he now only had magic monsters left I became really tanky because of my summoners Void
- Lets hope for the best and keep watching
3rd & 4th Round

- Next two rounds came and went but the board did not really change a lot
- I managed to take down his Regal Peryton in the first round and damage his Mycelic Slipspawn in the second
- In the mean time he only got my half damaged Mycelic Slipspawn because he just did not have enough damage to get through my Void tanks
- Now I just needed to wait for the start of the next round and then face my victory
5th Round

- It took me both of my attacks to kill my enemies last standing monsters
- After his Mycelic Slipspawn and Djinn Biljka had fallen I took the victory

Summary
- This battle was definitely fun to watch as I do not see myself beating max level decks that often
- This battle is prime example of why good team building is really important as with it you could even win max level teams
