The Ruleset

image.png

  • Rulesets - Unprotected & Healed Out
  • Mana Cap - 28
  • Active Elements - image.png image.png image.png image.png image.png image.png

Here's my starting lineup

Summoner: Barthalamas

  • With the rulesets that I got I instantly knew that playing earth was kinda off the table as earths strongest monster is a card with Heal and as Healed Out was active playing earth element you would lose a lot of potential for the same mana cost
  • Now these last couple of days I have played a lot more Frontier battles and have figures out that earth and fire elements work the best for me
  • Also the mana cap was a big factor in this battle as most of the foundation cards are really expensive and 28 mana does not get you very far when talking about the amount of monsters you can play
  • So in my case as earth was off the table I decided to play fire element and Barthalamas as I feel like fire is really strong element in the new Frontier mode plus his +1 speed is a really good stats to have an edge on your enemy
1st Position: New Beluroc Aegis

  • New Beluroc Aegis was my main tank for this battle
  • Main reason I liked New Beluroc Aegis here a lot was his Taunt ability
  • Even tho New Beluroc Aegis stats were kind of bad because he had 3 armor which was non existent in this battle due to Unprotected being active I still picked him as the rest of my team was based on really low hit point monsters which meant I really needed that Taunt to protect my backline
  • Taunt - Draws the attacks of enemy units. Does not affect Reach, Scattershot, Wingbreak, or enemy units in the first position
2nd Position: Chaos Furybringer

  • My second monster for this team was also a quite high cost card
  • The main reason I still picked him was his 2 melee damage and his Reach ability
  • As I had a decent front line tank I now needed the most damage I could get out of my remaining mana
  • Yes he was 6 mana and only had 2 hit points but I was really only after the 2 melee damage and the Reach as most of the other monsters had only 1 damage or were not able to attack from the backline
  • Reach - Can use melee attacks from the second position
3rd Position: Vengeful Monk

  • For last but not least was my second backline attacker Vengeful Monk
  • Also a quite high mana cost card but in foundation set you really do need to pay up to get some kind of damage on board
  • Luckily he did have two more hit points which totals him up to four and made him at least a little tankier compared to my other attacker
  • Opportunity - Targets the enemy unit with the least health

Starting board

image.png

  • After seeing the starting board I was still on the fence who would win this battle as I still have played too few matches to say it just based on how the board is looking
  • Which I saw was that my enemy played quite strong summoner with -1 hit point and a Sorrow Harvester with his Weaken which made my team even weaker than it was
  • The second thing was that my enemy possible messed up his positioning by playing him ranged monster in the second position and not the 3rd position
  • That in mind I felt like my team was even weaker than my enemies team but it was too early to say it 100%
  • But my predictions could still be off by a mile so lets start the battle and have a look

Here's how the battle went

1st Round

image.png

  • The first sight after the first round was quite promising
  • I had managed to take down his tank while my entire board was still alive
  • But the sad realization was that two of my monster were at 1 hit point and the last one was at 2 hp which meant I now had to win this battle fast or all of my hopes would fade
  • But anything could still happen so lets keep watching
2nd Round

image.png

  • The 2nd round was so huge for me
  • As I played +1 speed summoner my monsters were the first to attack and that meant I was able to take down his ranged monster in single round
  • That also meant if I now managed to hit both of my attacks I would win this battle with my two final monsters standing
  • If I somehow manage to miss one of the attacks it would mean my enemy would live with 1 hit point and one more round would be played out giving me another chance but if I also miss that the battle is over
  • Also if I manage to miss both of my attacks in the 3rd round the battle would be over instantly
  • So now I just needed to wait for the start of the next round and hope that I would hit the two attacks I had
3rd Round

image.png

  • I managed to hit both of my attacks attacks and take down my enemies last standing monster
  • After his Sorrow Harvester had fallen I took the victory

Daily Reward for Winning this Battle

image.png

  • This was my first Bronze II Daily Reward claim
  • The rewards could not have been better as I got the amazingly useful and the most expensive drops Mystic Scaleweaver
  • The other one being rare was also a nice bonus
  • Hoping to use Mystic Scaleweaver a lot in my upcoming battles

image.png

Summary

  • This battle was closer than I would have wanted or liked but still fun to watch
  • I feel like I win a lot of my battles just because a lot of players do not know the proper positioning or just do not pay a lot of attention on that but it is very important
  • So if you are a new playing trying to rank up your gameplay then go over the proper positioning
  • If you also would like to hop on the Splinterlands train feel free to use my Referral
