My dCity Journal - Building a Solid Foundation Takes Time
Hello Fellow dCity Major.
Today I am coming with a rhetoric subject. It's about building your dCity foundation. It never gives you instant result, in fact it will only give you many benefit in long run. I have been building up my dCity foundation since the beginning of this month, 2 April 2025. This is my first post about it: https://inleo.io/@dewabrata/my-dcity-journal-setting-up-the-next-foundation-35q
That's the first post when I started using these rule of thumb below:
- Buildings > Citizens. Initially I bought cheap citizen such as workers, because they are cheaper. I got some buffs, like tax refund, income, popularity by buying special citizens in discount. But when they died, stats dropped badly, and my rank crumbled. So Right now I focus more on buildings over citizens.
- My Income Rank is mainly generated by young citizens. Instead of trying different methods from selling them and replace them with better NFTs or Cards, whether they are building or citizens, I try to focus increasing basic income and fighting social support cost in order to be able to house in more young citizens.
- Incase I will add new rule here, they should not change the first and second rules.
I saw some of my expensive citizens died and I was forced to sell some young citizens due to excessive social support cost. And since that day to now, I only focus on the foundation, that's why at a glance, between that time and today, the different in surface are not massive.

Income wise, which is my main goal here, although I manage to increase 34 more $SIM, my rank is dropping. This means other people outperfom me, and that sound bad.

If you look at my income segment here, in general we can say my dCity has doubled the starting point too. We have more than twice of max Income which is tax refundable part of the base income.
I am quite disappointed with people who think I am doing this repetitively. When you build your foundation, mostlikely you keep doing the same, buying same NFT or some NFT with similar function.
And most of the time you can not do that in one go. The reason is simple, for me market price is very decisive. I won't buy NFT(s) that I know well they are getting expensive because nobody sells it or the liquidity is dried.
This is blockchain game anyway, making or earning tokens become one of the fundamental difference with conventional web 2 game. So sometime it is not as easy opening dCity web, buy something, and brag about it. There is a fun and happiness when you know very well you acquire some NFT below market price.
Ok enough with the rambling words, let get to the main even here...
Building A Solid One, Not Just Decent
my dCity looks good right now. It has a decent amount of Max Income. However I have learnt many things for months, and I know if I want to compete with the best, being decent or good is not enough. I have to be solid, and great.
That's why today I keep pumping my Base Income and of course popularity too. I am creating a barbershop city, thanks to some people who keep dumping that card.
I am getting 27 Barbershop for 24.361 $SIM, which in average they are on around 900 SIM for each of them. I think this is a good price, I take any below 1.000 SIM for Barber Shop - Music Store - Ice Cream Shop as a bargain, a good steal from the market.
So this is my notification
I have bought a couple of apartments and I forget to make a screen shot of them. I need those two to cover the needed population as the workers for those Barber Shop.
Honestly I just took my medication a few minutes ago, being in heavy fever make me forget a lot of stuff. I even don't know why I keep writing this post lol.
Ok now the real question, which I have already answered it before...
Why do I stop at 27 Barber Shops?
The answer is simple, because the price is spiking up. At this point the cheapest Barber Shop - Music Store - Ice Cream Shop is already on 1.100 $SIM. That's not a large amount of money, I can easily buy 20k SIM however that's not the right way to play any game. It is not about your wallet can afford it or not.
1.100 is already more than 20% than 909 $SIM. I feel like that's a mental stoppage, as a stingy person I would not want to spend more just to get the same thing or same value.
For me that's where the finish line is.
Anyway just for fun, I bought three young citizens. I have sold many. maybe around twenties, so I think it is ok to get them back a little. I want to buy them in a bulk then beat @ramadhanight income rank instantly, but I don't want those young citizens one day become Students (debt) in the same time. That would be a great disaster. So I guess this is another type of finish line.
My dCity Now
My base income is increased from 506 $SIM to 729 $SIM. This is a good number, I can say I get 40% up. It is a decent one, but as I have said above, decent and good is not enough. I must reach a great or solid level.
It's too bad the 3rd generation cards: Barber Shop - Music Store - Ice Cream Shop, are running out of the cheap ones. I would not buy them currently, and if next week they are staying at that price... I guess I will have to aim something bigger... Such as Communal Housing LoL
It's a joke but I might take it seriously. Why not, if it will make my dCity up for another league. Ok that's all. thank you guys for reading my update here.
Sorry if my words is a bit messy, blame my medicine then
Thank you for coming by and reading my post here. dCity is a city simulation game on Hive Blockchain. It works based on the second layer Non Fungible Tokens (NFT) on Hive-Engine. Those NFTS represents in-game assets, can be a building, a citizen, a park, a background and many more.
