Enfeeble Is Great Ability, But They Are Counterable
Hello Splinterlands Summoners
How's your new Splinterlands Gaming Journey? It must be very exciting, especially since the Conclave Arcana edition is released. We are playing with new cards edition, everything new and there are some new rulesets and of course... Brand new abilities.
Speaking about ability, there is an ability that becomes my favorite because it is very effective. That ability is Enfeeble.
This is an ability that can be classified as anti melee ability. Every succesful attacks will decrease opponent melee damage, down to minimal 1 melee damage.
The first unit I have with that ability is this one, Commander Slade. Currently he is my favorite main tank for Water Element team. With his Enfeeble ability, I dare to say he is the best tank duelist out there. He will cut down opponent melee damage, and later with his reflection shield ability, thorn damage as retaliation won't work on him
This enfeeble ability is the main reason I decide to develop life element first. There are some life element units who have enfeeble, one of them is this one, Thunderous Herald. Having her in my line up might be the best solution to make my opponent tank looks useless, however later I see it is not that simnple.
I see things not working as I have predicted so I cancel my life element Conclave Arcana edition quick buying. I have planned to get level 4 Owlkin Geodesist but I cancel it too. I think better I put the money on other cards first.
You see, there are many things why enfeeble is not working as I have planned before, one of the problem is their durability. Most of the enfeeble ability users in Conclave Arcana have low health point, they are easily got killed. So the sooner they get killed, the sooner the ability won't work at all. This is very contradictive to Commander Sloan, who is one of the sturdiest tank in current era.
So let me show you another reason why enfeeble become as not as effective before.
HIGHLIGHTED BATTLE
Ok this is the battle I seek, although it is not exactly what I want. My opponent has both, Owlkin Geodesist and Thunderous Herald. They have Bella as their summoner, so this is great example of how a Life Element Conclave Arcana will perform, although the Owlkin has not got the Enfeeble ability, which is why I say it is not the perfect example.
Although there is no double Enfeeble I want to have, atleast this battle is more than enough for me to show their weakness. I only need one unit to negate their meta here:
Anasth Soothsayer. She has cleanse and heal, exactly what I need to counter enfeeble. They have shield on all their units, so I expect having melee and range will get nerfed and put me into bad position. Too bad Anasth Soothsayer only has 1 magic damage, else she will be a massive hits!
I think I have said enough here, no need to over detailed about this thing. Doesn't matter how bad you nerfed my tank with enfeeble, double enfeeble, halving, or add anything there, cleanse ability will settle it over.
Let's see how this battle goes
- The battle starts with both side buffing their team and debuffing their opponent. My team relies with the number of units, we try to maximize that point. Their approach is more on bringing stronger units and focuses on withstanding incoming melee attacks.
- They come with 2 melee damage and 5 magic damage. Combined all they become 7 damage per round.
- My team comes with 7 melee damage, 2 range damage and 1 magic damage, combined all it becomes 10 damage per round.
- I have stronger attack power, I should be able to lead this battle easily but they are built for anti melee, this would be interesting
- First round was a lost for me, I lost my halfing refugee. at this point we were equal, 4 vs 4 with both side had attack powers at 7 damage per round.
- round two was a tight battle, none bested the other. However in this round both of our tank died, they both had already badly wounded.
- At the beginning of round 4, the condition was still equal 3 vs 3. I believed I got this, because my opponents were bunch of glass canons.
- round 4 was mine, my team dominated the battle. The same thing went for this round 5.
- Round 6 was not the last, but I cut it here. No way they could make a retaliation here, it's a good game
In the beginning, they were leading, they could start with a strong presence but later they could not keep up at all. The reason was simple, the enfeeble was countered by a simple cleanse ability.
In Splinterlands battle, even a dangerous or lethal meta(s) sometime have a counter that very simple like this. One Anasth Soothsayer then the meta falls apart. Even they manage to get Owlkin Geodesist at level 4, and get extra unit with an extra enfeeble ability, still anasth soothsayer will negate those debuffs again and again every round.
So what do you think, it is enfeebles are that fragile? or maybe Anasth Soothsayer are too strong? Or maybe you have different opinion, please feel free to share it here.
