Welcome to my weekly Splinterlands post. In this opportunity I would like to share one of the basic knowledge about developing our decks. In every battle, we deploy our battle deck, which consist of some cards... Depends on the ruleset, battle mana cap, and what cards do you have, you will try to form a solid formidable deck.

So in the end how good or how strong your deck will be heavily on how good your cards. Whether you are casual or competitive Splinterlands players, we always try to get new cards and improve our existing cards.

I usually use https://peakmonsters.com/ in getting new cards, managing cards or tracking my transaction. It is one of the best 3rd party Splinterlands apps for me. I share you one of the example here:

@peakmonsters explorer shows me here that yesterday, or a day ago, I bought this card Sultry Barmaid for $1.2. It is a level 4 Gold Foil one, I bought gold foil only because I play on Gold Foil Frays for my guild.

Ok then next one now, one day that level 4 cards will be uncompetitive because my opponents get harder or I move up a league, so what should we do? the answer is simple, it is time to level up the card.

This is the stats table, you can check the green boxed one, it shows CARDS which means it is the total cards needed to reach that level. The current one is level 4, which consists of 2 cards Gold Foil. IF I want to level up to 5 I will need 3 more cards to combine.

Ok I will show you another example, because I do not wish to level up that recently acquired Sultry Barmaid. Let me pick another one

Mar Tren Trader, I have a level 4 one and this time let me show you how to get her upto level 5.

Click the cards which is shown by green arrow. It will show you a list of your cards. then check the part I point it with red arrow. It will say that how many other cards it needs to consume for the next level.

It shows I have level 4 cards which need 3 more GF cards and I have the other 3 cards. So let's combine them all now.

It show in pop out box that I will increase my Mar Toren Trader card to level 5, which is stronger due to having higher speed. Well one level up is not something that significant however it is still better.

see that above, now my cards all combined into one stronger card. This is the way of leveling up your cards in Splinterlands, by combining them. You don't have to do it sooner, or hit it to the highest level, it is all based on your need.

You can be a casual player like me, who play for fun and still earning something. This way you can manage your budget, so spending in this game won't hurt your wallet.

OK if you want to upgrade, my recommendation are only 3 points:

1. Check the required cards for leveling up. Each rarity has their own requirement. So do not buy something less, or buying something more... It will do you any good.
2. Check the stats carefully, do you need to upgrade it? some levels are no good, so you might have to jump 2-3 levels to get the needed numbers or new abilities.
3. Regularly check the market. Sometime people dumping their price, sometime they hold so the price gets spiked up. for this, again, I recommend you to use https://peakmonsters.com/market

They have the most friendly user interface and it is super easy to monitor multiple cards price. I am not saying other 3rd parties are bad, however based on my preferences they are the most suitable one for me.

they even show this data, about the price fluctuation and how many cards are traded during the last 4 weeks. It is a good indicator for us, to see whether it is the best time to buy or maybe we wait more. Or what cards are actually in demand.

so whatever it is and whatever your preference, please don't forget level up your cards up to the desired level. Stronger cards will deliver better win rate and in the end you will be happier due to winning more frequently.
