At the secondary level, cellphone should be prohibited
Phone usage by students in secondary school should be highly prohibited.
I know one might say the world is changing and student needs to have knowledge of this gagets and i will say yes they do but not while in secondary school.
At secondary a child is supposed to learn the ethics of life, learn the dynamics and the difference between wrong and right, good and bad and learn morals when cell phone is introduce there learning is not achieve because distraction now set in and a child is lost and when he or she is lost at secondary level it will be very hard to bring the child back on tract during University years.
Let me share my experience
In my secondary School days, i was staying in the dormitory (hostel) that is boarding school from my junior secondary School to my senior secondary. It was a mission school by the Lutheran Church of Nigeria, the school prohibit cell phones in school but the system is corrupt so some of the teachers will allow the rich kids to come in with phones as their parents will tell them their child needs it to communicate them, so this so called rich kid will bring in the phone to the hostel, use it to chat, make unnecessary calls, watch movies including pornography and when she start watching it, her class will join and before you know it, more person will go out get a phone and bring it to the hostel there continue their research which was more harmful to the students living in the hostel.
After spending time to watch this barbaric movies they will look for ways to implemnt it with the boys and girls around those corrupting and turning the people close to them to lesbians.
The school authorities knew about it but because of bribe they will ignore it and allow it in the school.
I as an individual never had a cell phone untill after my secondary School, according to my dad i dont need it till i get to University and it helped.
Cell phones in secondary is a strong devilish tool to corrupt young minds because at that stage in life they have young minds still learning so learning from a cell phone is not ideal or a good one at all.
I know most students sneak into the schools with their cell phones and when caught they give silly excuses, the school authorities should check, monitor and install cameras in the school premises to check met the students in the school.
Most school do more harm to this students then help them. Recently i had a mission one on secondary School in my state and the atmosphere i saw the students i was broken, i wept for those young lives.
According to them the school is a rich children school so students there, dress as there like, carry their big phones, games and whatever the feel to class and i asked one of the teachers there how do they concerntrate in class and her answer was a shocker to my bones till today: she said, when they teachers goes into the class, the student will be the one to determine if they are ready to learn or not, when they say they are not ready, they will allow them to be Gosh i was so shocked and at th same time angry. What a level of indiscipline!
This children carry their cell phones, login online, chat, watch movies, play game and they show no respect to their teachers at all.
Why cell phones should not be allowed?
students get easily distracted with their cellphone so learning process will be very slow.
the students will depend on his/her cellphone for answers to questions thus reading will not be done
cellphone exposes them to harm in the internet and they tend to watch pornography and chat more on social media.
it will cause health issues especially eyes problem and cellphone when used oftenly causes
Nomophobia (fear of being without a phone, signifying addiction).
In conclusion, cell phones is good and offer good convenience, but at the secondary level it benefits drawbacks the students from attending the epic of their academic so to ensure students focus on learning and building good morals, schools should restrict their use and instead encourage the students to learn.
