Dejota, BraveTofu, and Talking Duck SPS Validator Announcement

It is with great privilege that I get to announce the partnership between me, @bravetofu, and Talking Duck and our launch of our validator node on the SPS network.

A duck, a cat, and a DJ enter a bar... and we decided to spin up a node.

Meet the team:

Dejota

• Been playing Splinterlands since 2019
• Active positive community member - spending most my days on X telling the world how much I love our game and community
• I put forth a proposal last March for the SPS DAO to help the development of the validators because I knew the importance of this step for us to reach true decentralization.
• I've been in BTC and crypto since 2017. I've held paid positions with crypto projects supporting their validators on various chains.
• Got my first NES when I was 5 and never looked back. Collected and played MTG in the 90s
• One of my favorite times was going to Splinterfest in 2022 and being able to meet the team and so many great community members

BraveTofu

• 20 years of experience building products at multinational tech companies
• 40 years of experience nerding out on videogames
• Built https://splinterguide.com/, a tool for evaluating Splinterlands card ratings algorithmically
• One of the top purchasers of Rebellion, getting the opportunity to co-design the Eternal Tofu Legendary Summoner with the team
• Experience with nodes on various chains, including directly running a stake pool on Cardano
• Father of 2
• Black belt in buying SPS (currently the top SPS stakeholder with >50M SPS)

Talking Duck

• a crypto jack of all trades who has spent the last 8 years writing code, building dapps and running nodes on multiple chains. Essentially avoiding staring at charts by digging into the tech side of crypto
• Tech wizard who tends to prefer to stay behind the scenes and focused on building

What’s Under The Hood?

• Server: 2 CPU, 16gb RAM, 100GB SSD with a highly reliable cloud service provider; Can be hot-upgraded as needed
• Running full Node with API service behind SSL
• Using Upcloud as our service provider (a tad more expensive than the average, but has run near flawlessly for us on various other node services in the last 5 years). Server located in Frankfurt, Germany.
