July 13, 22: Routine, Teaching, SM Season End, Oculus, TV, and Games

Well, to be completely honest, I was a bit stressed out today. Had teaching all day, which wasn’t really going to be too challenging in that we were just reviewing for the Final on Monday, but I had a student DM me that their grandmother’s funeral was scheduled on Monday and so I had to make sure to have my copies done and take one up to the testing center in between classes. I also really needed to get gas, so it was all kind of scrunched up there in the morning.

I was up at five this morning, and even though I was (according to FitBit) fifteen minutes short, given that it isn’t the usual hour or so, I’m going to call it close enough. I didn’t drag to badly, so I think it’s a fair assessment, but there was plenty of caffeine in the mix, so who’s to say, really?

Did all the usual morning routine and was actually pleased to see that my Polygon investment have (at least for the moment) recovered somewhat against ETH. Only losing .7 ETH now. Not good, but at least it’s better than it was a week or two ago. Not quite sure how much longer to torture myself with it…need to pick and exit strategy and a satisfactory target to hit to get out.

Speaking of getting out, I’m still holding the bag with UTOPIS. That was one full LTC that I put into that, hoping that by holding I can get a few more votes in the interim before it dies completely, but I’m not sure if it’s better to look for one of his buy walls and just take what I can get (and write the loss off on my taxes). 🤔

I did get an early enough start to do a decent post for the day, made my lunch, got everything together out in the car, grabbed a quick shower, got gas, and headed in. I was early, but not quite as much as I had wanted. The drive was a bit slow with some very heavy rain in some places, but I did get there with thirteen minutes to spare.

Went down, got myself logged in and printed a master copy of the Final and then set the copies going. The machine did not do a good job of aligning the pages before stapling (and there’s a bunch that are pretty messed up), but I got the job completed and was only a couple minutes late to class.

We went over example questions of each type of problem on the exam so they know what to expect and what I want them to be able to demonstrate and we ended up finishing about forty-five minutes early. Going to be meeting up again on Zoom tomorrow as well for an extra review session because I missed a day due to my back.

Got my lunch and fought and failed mostly to get a phone or WiFi signal. 😡🤬 Then headed back in to take the exam up to the testing center and fill out the whole form thing they have with that. Even so, was a good ten minutes early to the second class.

We reviewed in that class as well and even though we finished an hour early, there were still some students that asked to see more examples 😁🤓 and we kept going for a bit. A couple students stayed after as well, but I still ended up leaving a half an hour or so early.

Struggled to get a phone signal the whole way home as well, but otherwise the drive went smoothly. When I got home, though, the internet kept cutting off and I was getting really frustrated. I had a bit of time before Wenche got home and I couldn’t really use the phone, so I jumped into VR and started a new game of Into the Radius.

I guess it wasn’t really necessary for me to restart since it is possible to abort missions, but I’m not sure. Regardless (and despite the analog stick still being crappy) I played up to the point where I restarted (and successfully completed the mission this time) and Wenche came home from work.

She made us bacon and scrambled eggs and toast for dinner and we chilled in front of the tube for the rest of the evening. We binged pretty much everything we’ve been watching, so we started a new show: Guest Book. It’s pretty good, a different story with different actors/characters each episode. Definitely seen some familiar comedic faces. 😀

Messed around a little bit with Splinterlands, but it wasn’t too long before I was out.

I’m pretty sure I did get in two missions today on Rising Star. The drunks finally expired and I did have one percent Ego, so switched over to lessons again. Do I sound like a broken record yet (pun intended).

I’m guessing that my plants are probably dead now on HashKings, but I don’t know. I may have a chance to sit down at the computer tomorrow, though. Going to have to see if I take care of it or just do work (which I really need to).

Today was the end of the Splinterlands season and the rewards were alright, I suppose. Got one new card (the dragon double-striker - oh, wait, no that was from the focus rewards) and a solid bit of DEC.

I had a few minutes left on my focus, so I played a couple battles:

For the first time in quite a while I did go in to the market and spent some of the DEC that I got from the season rewards. I got some more of those Infiltrators to get it to level two.

Staked my SPS drop for the day…less than two weeks left now. 😱 I have been going in to check the vouchers market, but we’re still only around .8 HIVE. Getting low on liquid, so I’m starting to get itchy, but I don’t want to sell them so low. 😡
