Feb. 24, 22: Routine, Errands, Bit O’ Work, Oculus, Write Together, TV, and Games

Yet again, slept nine to five, but another hour short. I was, admittedly, a bit tired, but not bad…maybe eight hours is an arbitrary goal? 🤔 I didn’t actually get much proper work done on the website, though, despite getting the computer up and running early and starting a little bit. 😡😢 So, there is that motivation issue, but I did do some research on top. My main trouble is seeing problems in front of problems…need to do x, and am working on x, but really y needs to happen first, but then z before that! 😮 Then I get overwhelmed instead of just taking it step by step. Glad I don’t have any investors or people breathing down my neck asking “wen?”

The morning routine was usual for the most part. Did my Wordle, hit the faucets, got caught up with pings and notifications and such, checked the SOL market…all the same stuff. But then I checked the news, which of course was all about Russia’s “invasion” of Ukraine and how we’re on the verge of WWIII.

I knew there had to be more to that story than what I was seeing from the American propaganda machine, so did some more digging…they don’t mention that the parts of Ukraine he entered want to be part of Russia and have been fighting about it since 2014! Sure, they have resources, but Putin could easily set up a trade deal rather than risk war with NATO…there’s Ukraine’s desire to join NATO (putting them right on Russia’s border - not cool) and other strategic reasons, I’m sure, but it’s definitely not a land grab like our media is making it out to be.

The crypto markets were just utterly destroyed…looking at 15+% across the board. Hurt in every way possible and I’m losing even more against ETH over on Aave. 😡

Had a bit of liquid funds on H-E to play with after selling my vouchers, and I went in and bought a bit more PIZZA. Kinda’ want to climb the ranks there in Doscord, but it’s getting a lot more expensive to achieve those heights these days.

Otherwise, spent quite a bit of time trying to get my wallets cleaned up, getting stuff staked, refreshing the wallet to find more drips having just come in. 😡 I mean, passive income is awesome, do not get me wrong, but keeping H-E up to date is an onerous and never ending task. Life would sure as hell be a lot easier if you could multi-stake to someone else (or multi-stake at all, for that matter…HiveWallet provides the minimal amount of clicks necessary to complete a transaction - even better than Keychain - but it still takes time to construct and submit every one of those operations 😢).

Finished up my post for the day and then headed into town to the smoke shop and the puffity-puff store. I was already very late on the day and I wasn’t even close to being back before PYPT started. I did hop over and check in and saw that there were quite a few people there, but didn’t stay. 😭

I thought about working on the website, but worried about sql injection attacks and that sort of thing since I’m working on allowing input of usernames. There’s a mysqli function, but I’m inside Wordpress, so I’m interacting with $wpdb and not MySQL. There’s also prepared statements, but upon further research it seems that they’re for raw queries whereas Wordpress used prepared statements under the hood for the $wpdb->insert and $wpdb->update functions. I suppose it still might be smart to use some regex on the front end as well, just to prevent weird typos (like ending with a dash or something) that make for invalid Hive account names.

So, even though it wasn’t actually work, I did work on the site some (in a sense). In a very real sense, though, I could not resist the temptation to try some more Escape Legacy on the Oculus.

To be honest, the puzzles are very similar, but it’s still fun. I got one done, but only two out of three stars and I was right at the end of another, but I got totally stuck. I thought it was glitched (it is an AppLab game and there are some janky things, particularly with object collision), but now I think there was something I missed.

One of my students from last semester asked me to write a recommendation letter for them and I’d been procrastinating super bad, so I decided to take care of it and get it off my shoulders. Unfortunately, it’s usually a site you sign into and then like fill out the form and whatever; they want a proper, written letter and in pdf format. 🤬 Yes, I’m pretty sure that Pages will export a pdf, but from my experience the formatting is pretty janky. More or less means that I have to use LaTex and do a proper pdf (and write a paper). Ah well, I said I would, so going to have to take care of that tomorrow. At least that’s an excuse to already be working at the computer…

Jumped into Pizza server and Dibblers was doing a Let’s Write Together. That was totally fun and I earned some PIZZA for participating as well. 👍 They’ve always got stuff going over there!

That was basically it. I did some chores in the kitchen: emptied out the dishwasher, did the dishes in the sink, took out the garbage…got myself a shower, hmmm what else?

When Wenche got home she made us French toast for dinner and we watched the rest of The Good Cop…only seems to take us like two days to fly through a show. Otherwise, I played my Splinterlands quest (which went very smoothly), and then got ready for bed.

I did have some steps left today (and I cheated some, to be honest), but kept the streak alive mostly.

As if sustained zero income was enough for dShitty, got to pile General crime on top, of course. Nevertheless, I got three SIM today, so a deal’s a deal, three words it is: dShitty licks donkeyballs. 😜

Did a couple missions today on Rising Star (enough to be annoyed at typing out that rediculous website address over and over). Seems that the lessons I did didn’t buy me too much time; my Ego is increasing again already. 😡 Going to have to start alternating looks like.

Had a pretty quick go of it today on Splinterlands, but despite that, had a nice win streak and made some solid progress! 💪

Just under four days left in the season and I broke into Diamond! 💪 There’s still time to get to the next tier…there’s still time barring the inevitable losing streak I’m sure to face tomorrow. 😛

Had three wins without neutral monsters for my quest today and got it done just over the line into Diamond. Not too shabby rewards, either! Got a little DEC, an Epic, and an Untamed pack:

Got my rewards from the brawl today as well and had enough to snag another Gladiator pack:

Staked my drop for today, which was relatively stable but lower than yesterday because I claimed the interest late. Decided yesterday to sell out all the vouchers I had on the market and I didn’t like not having any there, so I pulled some more out. Waka Taka You MoneyA sold out in three seconds! 😱 But now vouchers are dropping in value. 😡 Oh well, I did sell them higher over the last few days.
