Technowizologist | SPT W-343 | Splinterlands Art Contest, Digital Art

avatar

Hello, how are you all hive friends?

Hopefully all hive friends are fine, and always given blessings in this life ๐Ÿ˜Š

This is the 118th post since I joined the weekly art contest held by @Splinterlands.

Here I draw the Technowizologist character from the Splinterlands Technowizologist card game.

I chose this character because this character is a combination of a wizard and technology, which so far mystical and technological things cannot be united but are made in this character. So it becomes something unique that I seem to have to make fanart for.

And I am quite happy to participate and draw Splinterlands characters to practice my illustration drawing skills.

But overall it's really fun to make Splinterlands fanart always, because there are so many characters that can be made into fanart๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜.

For coloring, using a full-color American comic style with a little semi-realism.

To create this character, I used Gpen thick and thin line art this time without texture.

This time I didn't have a target, because just joining the @splinterlands character drawing competition is already really cool in my opinion.

And congratulations to the top 3 winners and other winners ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿ•บ๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿฅณ

Also thank you to my friends in the Hive community, curators, and other artists who have always supported me in my work so far.

I created this work in 7 hours with 2.5 hours of line sketching and 4.5 hours of coloring and effects.

  3. Wacom Cintiq 13Hd.

Steps from sketch to line art using Gpen with slightly changed parameters in Clip Studio Paint:

The coloring process and also the creation of shadows and lighting using Airbrush and watercolor brushes with slightly changed parameters as well as several layer modes from glow dodge, add, overlay to multiply:

Thank you for visiting my blog this time, stay healthy and see you again๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿ‘‹

Awesome lighting and details on his Gauntlet. It's crazy how you create a simple background which enhances the character.

Thank you friend, yes I'm lazy to make a background friend, because it takes quite a lot of time so I focus on the character only with only a gradient background, because I have spent a lot of time making sketches and line art and sometimes coloring is very tiring ha.ha., But in terms of coloring and play of light your work is still better friend, I can't even imitate how you combine various colors into a beautiful light effect.

Yes your lineart quality is one of the best I have seen on Hive platform. I suppose most of the energy is spend there. Your lighting and blending quality is impressive too bro like this one. It really stands out even without a detailed background.

Thank you my friend, but sometimes my mood is so bad that in terms of coloring style sometimes I see it often changes, sometimes it's good sometimes I see my coloring is very bad, it's very difficult to be consistent and not tired of coloring for a long time ha..ha.ha.

I salute the coloring of your work, I see it is always consistent in style and always good, sometimes I envy people who don't get tired of coloring their work.

Dude it's the opposite for me xD. I don't like lineart but I love painting it haha.

Ha.ha.ha maybe someday we should collaborate on making a work, my friend, with me making the line art and you making the coloring.. that would be cool ๐Ÿ˜

There is already some like that going one, remember? Holozing collection set is accepting such entries hehe.

Oh wait that's not it. I think it was character one person and background another person kinda situation.

is it permissible to enter a contest like that? didn't one person make it?

Yes for the most entries here that's the case. It's not limited to that. Acid made a blog about it in the community. See if you can find it.

I just found out, how many people have tried the collaboration?

No one I guess haha. I think some people's art style doesn't fit into other's style or most of them think it's best to ride solo. I noticed that some of your background work even use lineart. Meanwhile I don't use that. I usually draw without it because lineart in the background gives attention as a whole instead of the character as per my preference.

hmm yes, it is indeed difficult to combine different art styles in one work, yes, I happen to put more emphasis on line art, but in the post we can collaborate someday ha.ha.

Which are you interested in doing? Background or characters?

I prefer making characters and even then it's just line art ha.ha.

Damn๐Ÿ˜†, I don't like drawing the background either haha but you are THE background artist champion though. Man I loved that background you made for Wrackoo.

I won the contest just by luck, my friend. The background you made was actually better. Well, basically I also really don't like making background images, because it's tiring and sometimes after making a character, I'm stuck making a suitable background for it.

How do I make line art and you color it, my friend? It must be cool with your coloring and lighting effects๐Ÿ˜

Hm I think a lot before drawing something particular when it involves great lighting but anyway I'm very happy to try this out bro. So basically I'll be making the background too without lineart? Hm we can definitely try that.

One thing though. Let's go with just holomons for this one and can you make sure the designs resemble closely to the official one? I mean I know you do your own thing like extended claws, muscular body etc. For the collection set it's best to keep it close of original. If you can do that then let's Collab!

I still think your background entry is better though. It's was very well detailed unlike mine. I actually prefer it if you did the background and I draw the characters haha.

There is one more issue though. My software only accepts transparent png format. Other file formats are not supported so there is that.

If all this is okay then we can chat more on discord. We are already friends there.

Yes, we are equally weak in the background, ha.ha.ha, which Discord channel is yours, friend? Holozing or what? What application do you use, friend? I use CSP, you can use PSD format, etc.

See that's the problem. I used Ibis paint and it doesn't support psd. Only png and jpeg is supported but png is the standard for editing etc.

Hmmm png so all layers are fixed and cannot be edited, it seems like ibispaint can read psd or csp files

Yes whatever you made must be in a single layer which is convenient for you because you are only making the lineart but still Ibis paint doesn't support psd. I just checked and there is a workaround like you first upload the work to Google drive and I import it via Google drive through Ibis or something. I think Ibis converts it into png during the import process. It's sounds hectic haha.

I just checked clip studio and saw it does support saving transperant lineart as png so what's the issue?

okay, so what's the theme of this collaboration? should I just send the line art to your discord, friend? yeah, it seems like transparent png is safe in csp
