It's been a long while since my last post. I've been so busy trying to streamline my freelancing business and trying to finish commissions, that I haven't had time to do my own stuff, never mind posting work from clients. But hopefully I'll have time to do person projects and share them with you.

This was a commission I did for @/deathararepair on TWT. They wanted a DnD character done from the earth genasi elemental. She is a hunter and tracker. It was a pleasure working on this and @/deathrarepair was really pleasant to work with on this.

Sketches

As you can see, I started out with a couple of thumbnail sketches to get things started. Her being a hunter and tracker, I decided to have her in a mid-action one-knee pose of drawing an arrow for a shot or load the arrow and ready to shoot.

I went with the second sketch because it had a silence and tension in it that examplified her readiness and instincts as a hunter.

Ideation And Concepting

I then moved on to try and conceptualize the design. She would be wear a corset-styled leather armor and the client wanted an asymmetric design so I dressed her in light coloured cloth that had a asymmetric fit around the body. My clothing design has never been that good, since I almost never focus much on that as part of the subject, but doing this help in the illustration later.

I didn't use all of the designs but I move on forward comfortably knowing all my design problem were fixed in this stage.

Prelim Painting

After that, it was time to go off and get this painting done. As you can see, a lot changed. For instance, I tried to keep the her free but give her a scurf to protect the her seemed more cool and stealth-like. But all in all, most of what I did in the sketch stay in the painting from start to finish.

You had a lot of other poses planned OwO it would have been cool to see those come to life too! But the pose you went with looks really cool too
