Funko's newest NFT drop: the Nickelodeon collection.

Yo. Decided I'd stop being a zombie and write up a post since something finally has me slightly excited again. Funko is gearing up to do a new drop of NFT's, that are going to be themed around classic Nickelodeon shows that many people my age grew up watching as a kid. If you're unfamiliar with Funko, they are a well known collectible toy company that has access to an insane amount of license's for their products. There's a big market for their products, with some of their very limited items going for tens of thousands of dollars. They've dipped their toes into the NFT world over the past 6 months, doing a handful of drops on the Wax blockchain and using atomichub for second market support. A big component of these drops is that there are specific NFT's that are redeemable for a phyiscal Funko Pop in the real world. And, because they're all pretty limited, most of them are going to be worth some decent money. Almost all of the drops besides one have done well (The one I mention being the Bob Ross themed drop they did, which had controversy due to a documentary released about Bob Ross shortly before), with some doing better than others in terms of sell out speeds.

From what I have seen over on Twitter and Instagram, there's a shit ton of hype and excitement for this drop. The only Funko drops I've seen that had as much hype were the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles drop, and the Halloween drop (Which I'm biased about, because, you know, I'm a depraved little slut for horror and spooky season). And, I'll be honest, after the last two drops I was not really too excited about Funko's NFT's. Both the Bob Ross and Retro Comic lines were a big let down and didn't really make me wanna do backflips into a self sucking position. But, thanks to my handy dandy childhood nostalgia, I'll be counting down the days until I can get into this drop. So, what kind of stuff will I be trying to scoop up here? Well, lets take a look, pussyboi.

As you can see unless you're blind as hell, there's quite a few physical collectibles that you can grab with this drop. Each of them having a big nostalgia boner element to them for anyone who grew up watching Nickelodeon cartoons. So, you know, the real alpha chad's of the world. The amount of redeemable's for each NFT varies from character to character. The most accessible one out of these would be the Freddy Funko Mascot Pop, which has 2000 tokens to be redeemed. He's also easily the most lame out of the bunch here. However, Funko fans in general have always been rabid over Pops featuring the mascot character, so I imagine even with this being as lame as it is that it will have some value to it. It also is the only redeemable here that isn't pulled directly from a pack, and will require you to obtain the "royalty" set. Meaning, you have to collect every NFT from common to epic to obtain one once the redemption period starts.

This set is one of the larger ones, so it will take most people a fair amount of time to finish, unless you like to just pull hundred dollar bills out of your wallet and slide them up and down your ass cheeks. The common to epic cards total 103, which I believe is the second largest set that they have dropped thus far. Beyond that, there are 5 redeemable nft's to be found. Four are considered "legendary" rarity, and each of these is limited to 1550 pieces. The final nft is the "grail" rarity, and is limited to 999 pieces. With this drop, it looks like they've reduced the chances on pull rates even further than they were, so, I'm going to guess most people will be paying a fat chunk of change on the secondary market for that grail token. And, honestly most of them will probably be pretty spicy.

The Danny Phantom pops you can redeem are something I really think is going to take off on the aftermarket once the physical pops are sent out. There's barely any pops from this show, and, it's one that has a cult following fan base of degenerates who like to draw Danny Phantom hentai. I've already seen many, many people whining on twitter and elsewhere about how it's bullshit that these toys are locked behind NFT's and that then general public can't purchase them. You know, since the general public will be the one purchasing the packs and then opening/selling them. It's some sound logic on those peoples parts.

Dialing it back a bit since I've just kept talking about the redeemable side of things, I'm very conflicted on how I feel about the value of the NFT's in the long run. For the first few months, they will go for a few hundred dollars since you can redeem them eventually. But, if I'm being honest, 95 percent of people buying these drops are just people who want the physical items and give no fucks about the NFT's. (I'm also in the camp for the most part, though I do plan on holding the NFT's afterwards for awhile to see what might happen.) The values on previous sets that have already been redeemed have plummeted heavily for the most part, which is to be expected. But, I'm curious if maybe in a year from now some of that value will be restored or not. The Leonardo grail from the TMNT set has climbed back up to the $150 range, after falling down to being worth $40 after the tokens were redeemed. (Just as a reference, the value on that NFT was $450-500 up until the redemption period began. And, it did sell for that fairly often.) Time will tell what happens to the NFT prices for these.

As for the physical aspect of them? I can guarantee all of these will go for at least a few hundred dollars. I would imagine the cheapest one of these will be the Freddy, and, even then he'll go for $150-200 on the aftermarket. Maybe even more depending on how many are actually found and redeemed. The 4 legendary rarity pops will probably float in the $200-300 range. I feel pretty assured at those prices, with the love of those shows and large fanbases. The grail is a bit of a tough one to call, not every pop under 1k pieces is worth an insane amount. But, Rugrats is a very nostalgic cartoon for people and there is a good fanbase for it. It's also a new mold of the main character from the show. So, I would say probably $250-350 is a possible price point you could see once it's in peoples hands. I might be low balling things here, but, it's hard to tell. Pre-orders for the Leonardo grail physical pop have been selling on ebay for $750-800, for example. But, the grail pop for the Big Boy drop has been sitting at around $120-150. It all depends on how much of a chud the fanbase is and if they're willing to spread their cheeks to keep the shelves lined with their favorite vinyl trash.

But, yeah. I'm excited to try and get in on the drop. It happens on the 1st of February at 2PM EST, for anyone interested. It's on the Droppp.io platform, and will require you to make an account to purchase any packs. They use a randomized queue system, so, it's all up to luck if you're even able to get a spot in line to buy packs. And, they limited you to 6 packs total during your purchase. So, you'll more than likely end up having to buy some on the secondary market via atomichub. If anyone on here is going to try and cop some, good luck to you. I'll be hoping that God drops ass onto your electronics and causes an EMP so I won't have to worry about you cutting in front of my spot in line. Biiitch.

Until next time though, doods!

Later!
