Splinterlands Social Media Challenge - A Mage Tank!?

Hi there Splinter-fellas. Greetings and welcome to this blog of mine. Have you been well this past few days hivers? Hope you made those days fun and meaningful.

Magicians filling the role of a Tank in Splinterlands.

• If you are new to splinterlands you might not be familiar of how the cards placed on your battle deck. So you see, you need a summoner, a monster card on the first part of your deck, second monster card and so on and so fort until you fill your team. The monster card on the First slot of your deck is the one will tank your team on to the battle. If you are familiar with RPG's, you might understand in an instant how tank performs their role as part of a team. It will be your shield performing your attack to the opposing team. Normally, it will be the card that will shoulder the attack coming from the other side so it is necessary that it is equip a good amount of health, an armor, and other skills that is beneficial with the said position. My blog is about having a Mage that will perform a role of the tank. Normally, this role is for Melee attackers or sometimes Range damage Dealers. But as the game continued to evolve, we can also see adjustments that are not necessary typical but also unique adjustments. Let me share an example of a Mage performing a tank role in splinterlands.

The Ruleset:

We are going to battle in 48 Mana capacity with Up to Eleven and Close Range Rulesets. The Splinter elements that can be use are Light, Water and Dragon. I will go with the Light element because i have a Mage card that can be a tank from this element and i am going to use that for this battle.

My Team:

• I am summoning my Team with Lux Vega for i believed that it can boost my team with defense specially the tank which is the sample for this blog. Janni Rebel, a rare card that i upgraded to level 4 and boasting with a 10 Health with a Flank Ability and Inspire too. So its presence is a good combination to Melee attackers. The holy crocodile Jared Scar was place in the 2nd position to gain the Reach ability and with its other abilities, specially the bloodlust, a good melee attacker is present to my team. Olivia of the Brook, one of the most sought card nowadays because of its mimic skill, well its really a good card though, can cause a headache, i am using it also for my team to add more fire power. Venari Crystalsmith, a good range attack damage dealer with a tank heal is also a good fit for my team. Adelade Brigthwing is another good support that can provide a magic attack to the opponents. It's Resurrect skill and swiftness are good supports plus the Repair is handy for my team. Prismologist is completing my team. Its quality fits my back cover plus it has a good amount of damage added the blast skill.

Lets see what happens to the battle.

My opponent used water splinter, with Kelya as the summoner, it is a good boost to speed and defense of my opponents team. It also has a good team with support cards. I got the edge of possessing few maxed cards but we cant tell that i will surely win with this fight. His cards at the back are quite dangerous. Lets continue with what transpire in the battle.

Its quiet disappointing that my Mage tank didn't even last in the first round. But in fact it is also proven that it got what it takes to be a tank for the reason that it really absorb most of the attack before it left the battle field.

Round 2 and i am already in trouble here. The holy crocodile also left the battle field.

Round 6 of the battle is where i deliver the final blow to my enemy, Close Range ruleset gave a good help in this battle because of Venari Chrystalsmith additional damage even it took the Tank position. Olivia of the brook on the other hand really shows its battle prowess in this fight.

• In regards for having a Mage as a tank is a new thing to me in the game. But it doesn't mean that those mage guys are not capable in the position, it just requires a good ruleset match and great team combination to grab the win. although the battle shows that my tank didn't last that long, it still did its part for my team.
