Social Media Challenge: Tokatag Conscript [EN - ESP]
Well, here we are for another week with an article on each Social Media Challenge. As you know, it's a challenge I don't usually miss. The one I tend to "forget" from time to time is the Engagement Challenge. I don't have the same amount of time available to complete it every week, and personally, I don't like writing for the sake of writing and not meeting the minimum quality standards I set for myself. Be that as it may, here I am with a new analysis, and this week, with a card that even surprised me. It's not a card I usually use with my Water deck, but this time, I'm bringing you a battle in which I decided to try it as a tank, and it proved incredibly useful. Today, I'm bringing you an analysis of Tokatag Conscript and its use with a Water deck in the tank position. Bueno, pues aquí estamos una semana con el artículo de cada Social Media Challenge. Como ya sabéis, es un reto al que no suelo faltar. El que si suelo “olvidar” de vez en cuando es el Engagement Challenge y es que no todas las semanas tengo el mismo tiempo disponible para cumplir con ello y, personalmente, no me gusta escribir por escribir y no cumplir con el mínimo de calidad que me autoimpongo a mi mismo. Sea como sea, aquí me tienes con un nuevo análisis y, esta semana, con una carta que incluso me ha sorprendido. No es ni de lejos una carta que suela usar con mi mazo de agua pero, esta vez, te traigo una batalla en la que me decidí a probarla como tanque y ha resultado increíblemente útil. Hoy te traigo el análisis de Tokatag Conscript y su uso con el mazo de agua en la posición de tanque. You may find it strange when you watch the battle that I've decided to include this type of card as a tank, although I'll explain why later. It's a neutral deck card of common rarity that I currently have evolved to level 5 and is close to being able to level up another one. I hope to achieve this at the end of this season and level it up to a level that will give it an extra point of vitality, which is always welcome. Tokatag Conscript belongs to the Tokatag Kalamenty tribe that controls the region known as the Land of Prosperity, dominating the territory from the capital of Mox City, not to be confused with Knox City, dear fans of Hideo Kojima's work. The illustration shows a fearsome warrior with a bow ready to shoot. I particularly like the design, and perhaps it will be one of the ones I work on if I ever decide to contribute my designs to another of the Splinterlands-sponsored challenges. But that will be a topic of analysis for another time.
Es posible que cuando veas la batalla te resulte extraño que haya decidido poner este tipo de carta como tanque, aunque luego te explicaré el motivo. Se trata de una carta de mazo neutral y de rareza común que, actualmente, tengo evolucionada a nivel 5 y cerca de poder subir un nivel más. Espero poder conseguirlo al final de la presente temporada y subirla a un nivel que le va a otorgar un punto extra de vitalidad que siempre viene bien. Tokatag Conscript pertenece a la tribiu de Tokatag Kalamenty que controlan la región conocida como Land of Prosperity dominando el territorio desde la capital de Mox City, no confundir con Knox City queridos fans del trabako de Hideo Kojima. La ilustración nos muestra una temible guerrera con un arco preparado para disparar. El diseño me gusta especialmente y, quizá, será uno de los que trabaje si me lanzo en algún momento a aportar mis diseños a otro de los retos patrocinados por Splinterlands. Pero eso será motivo de análisis en otro momento.
As I mentioned above, Tokadag Conscript is a common card in the neutral deck that has a ranged attack. At its first level, it has one ranged attack point, three speed points, and only two vitality points, costing six mana to summon. It provides two special abilities at its first level, these being Sneak and Thorns, which give it a playability boost that will be the basis of my strategy. It seems obvious that the cost is high for what it offers, but one of its basic characteristics is that its vitality scales almost exponentially. In fact, at level 5 it has gone from 2 to 6 vitality points, which gives that thorny ability a bonus.
Como te digo arriba, Tokadag Consript es una carta común del mazo neutral y que cuenta con ataque a distancia. En su primer nivel tiene un punto de ataque a distancia, tres de velocidad y solo dos de vitalidad con un coste de seis puntos de maná de invocación. Aporta dos habilidades especiales ya en su primer nivel siendo estas Sneak y Thorns lo que le dan un plus de jugabilidad que será la base de mi estrategia. Parece evidente que el coste es elevado para lo que ofrece pero una de sus características básicas es que escala de manera casi exponencial su vitalidad. De hecho, a nivel 5 ha pasado de 2 a 6 puntos de vitalidad lo que da un extra a esa habilidad espinosa.
The example battle has 28 mana available and the battle conditions are Going the Distance, Even Stevens, and Holy Protection. My opponent is going to be Fugitoid, and he'll be building a Death deck against my powerful Water deck. After analyzing my opponent, I assumed he could field cards with double attacks, including melee, and that's exactly what happened, which is why my bet on Tokatag Conscript was decisive.
La batalla de ejemplo tiene un maná disponible de 28 puntos y como condiciones de batalla aparecen Going the Distance, Even Stevens y Holy Protection. Mi rival va a ser Fugitoid y formará con un mazo de muerte frente a mi poderoso mazo de agua. Tras analizar a mi rival suponía que podría poner en liza cartas con doble ataque incluyendo cuerpo a cuerpo y así ha sido por lo que mi apuesta por Tokatag Conscript ha sido determinante.
I'm sure you didn't expect the way I used Toaktag Conscript at all. Placing it as a tank, hoping the opponent would use melee cards in a battle where only ranged cards are allowed, I admit was very risky. However, in my previous analysis of my opponent, I discovered that he had a tendency to use these cards, so I decided to take the risk, and it worked out perfectly. However, it's a strategy that, with the card analyzed at level 1, with only two vitality points, isn't worth the risk. Having it at level 5 with up to six vitality points, it's worth taking the risk, since its Thornes ability could cause significant damage to the opponent, as it ended up doing. As you can see, sometimes taking risks has benefits, and this time was one of those rare cases where a difficult bet paid off.
Seguro que el uso que he hecho de Toaktag Conscript no te lo esperabas ni por asomo. Colocarlo de tanque esperando que el rival usara cartas con ataque cuerpo a cuerpo en una batalla en la que solo se permiten cartas con ataque a distancia reconozco que ha sido muy arriesgado. Sin embargo, en el análisis previo que hice de mi rival descubrí que tenía cierta tendencia por usar estas cartas así que decidí asumir el riesgo y salió a la perfección. Eso si, es una estrategia que con la carta analizada a nivel 1, con solo dos puntos de vitalidad no compensa el riesgo. Al tenerla a nivel 5 con hasta seis puntos de vitalidad compensa arriesgarse pues su habilidad Thornes podría causar un daño significativo al rival como así ha sido al final. Como has podido comprobar, hay veces que arriesgarse tiene beneficios y, esta vez, ha sido uno de esos casos extraños en los que una apuesta difícil sale bien.
