CHALLENGE RULES
RULESET: Melee Mayhem
Description:
Melee units can attack from any position.
- Prime use case for melee units with Bloodlust.
- Abilities take precedence where targeting is concerned.
- Make sure to bring a dispel in case your opponent uses Bloodlust/Martyr
- If you have melee monsters in the back-line with Sneak or Opportunity, those abilities take precedence.
- Select a summoner that increases melee attack or a summoner that reduces melee attack of enemies
- Abilities that will help during this ruleset are Shield, Thorns, Inspire, Blast, Retaliate
Ruleset Nerfs
Rulesets that don't support | Reasons |
---|---|
![]() | Takes away the void armor counter. You could go with speed as the winning option here. |
Ruleset Buffs
Rulesets that support | Reasons |
---|---|
![]() | Having high armor will help you absorb some extra damage. |
![]() | Divine shield will protect you from one source of damage. |
![]() | This ability works so well with this ruleset Thorns hurts a lot unless your opponent brings reflection shield |
Monsters breakdown
Buffs
Reflection Shield
This ability directly counters the effect of the Thorns ability.
Blast
Getting free extra damage to adjacent monsters with every hit who doesn't like free damage
Inspire
+1 extra damage for each of your melee monsters per hit. If you bring 6 melee that is 6 extra damage per turn.
Shield
Shield reduces the damage from melee or ranged attacks.
Repair
Having the repair ability allows you to repair the armor of your monsters.
Protect
Having high armor will help you absorb some damage. Protect ability can give you two additional armor while the Repair ability will help you regain your damaged armor.
Nerfs
Thorns
Every time you opponents hit you they take 2 damage ( +1 extra if you bring an Amplify)
Retaliate
Chance of striking back at your attacker during their turn.
Dispel
If your opponent happened to bring along a bloodlust or Martyr buff champ this is the ideal counter for taking care of those extra beefed up monsters
Headwinds/Demoralize/Silence
You can still survive longer if you can reduce the damage from the opponent's attack. Abilities like Demoralize, Headwinds, or Silence reduces the melee, ranged, and magic damage respectively will help you achieve this strategy this will be an ideal way to hurt their damage output.
Summoners breakdown
Summoners buffs | Reasons |
---|---|
Tarsa | Dealing damage first can often be the difference between winning or losing. |
Kelya | Having speed as mentioned above is great but the added armor here has many benefits. |
Lux | Same reasons as Kelya with the added bonus of some more health as well. |
Mylor Crowling | If you have Mylor it will be a one of the best suited rulesets for this summoner. |
Grandmaster Rathe | Giving everyone void armor can be particularly difficult to get through regardless of the damage type. |
Immortalis | Giving everyone shatter can be painful for opponents who have gone with armor plays. |
Summoners nerfs | Reasons |
---|---|
None | Can't really think of summoner with a disadvantage. |
If you can think of any please let me know.
Without further delay lets dig into a battle to see some of our recommendations in action.
Top player has gone with a Lux play for extra speed and armor. The bottom player has gone with the always effective Mylor approach against melee sadly they did not bring an amplify.
Extra damage from inspire and the armor from Lux shines through as the MVP for this battle.
