My Most Painful Splinterlands Regret? Missing Out on Chaos Legion Reward Cards (Don't Make My Mistake)

avatar

It shouldn't come as a huge surprise that I've been a little... preoccupied with Splinterlands writing lately. My focus has been elsewhere – on a recent victory, to be precise.

Just yesterday, finally, finally, I pulled the last BCX I needed to max out all the Rebellion reward cards. The feeling? Pretty fantastic, I have to admit. It’s that satisfying click when you see those maxed-out, shiny cards in your collection. It’s a quiet sense of accomplishment, knowing you put in the work. And honestly, it feels good to have that sorted.

My brain was cheering, "Yes! You did it! You actually didn't let this opportunity slip away!"

But then again… there’s always a then again, isn't there?

Because the flip side of that small victory is the lingering, undeniably painful regret of my biggest Splinterlands mistake. The one that still makes me groan internally sometimes.

We’re talking about Chaos Legion reward cards.

Yeah. That’s right. The Chaos Legion reward cards.

I missed a full max set. Completely.

And I'm sure many of you can relate. You're playing, you're earning, you're opening those chests, and there's a certain assumption that those cards will just... always be there, just floating around, relatively affordable. It’s easy to think, "I'll get to it eventually." What's the rush, after all?

Turns out, that rush was real.

Because now? Go ahead, take a look. Check the secondary market prices for those cards. It can be a bit of a shock. Those same cards I was earning, sometimes multiple BCX in a single chest, they’re now significantly more expensive. I can’t earn them anymore. They're out of print. Finished. Gone.

It's a classic case of supply and demand. And when the supply dries up on something that’s genuinely useful in the game, people are willing to pay. And often, pay a lot.

Take Aves Sturgis, for example. A solid Legendary Life Unit from Chaos Legion. I only have it at Level 2, meaning I just got 3 BCX from my reward chest days. To get that card to max level, I need 8 more BCX. If I were to buy those on the market today, looking at current prices, that's going to cost me a cool $96.64. Ninety-six bucks for a single card I could have just… continued to open for "free" while playing. That's a mistake that stings. Yeah, there is also a max copy there for $86.75

This isn't just about general "buy low, sell high" market advice, though. This feels different. These were reward cards. They were essentially "free" to earn if you were already engaging with the game. Missing out on them feels like leaving money on the table, or worse, setting yourself up for a needless, significant expense down the line.

So, if I could sit down with my past self – that slightly less experienced version of me – and give one piece of advice, one absolutely critical truth about navigating Splinterlands... what would it be?

It’s simple. It’s concise. And it would have saved me a considerable amount of potential pain (and SPS).

Max. The. Reward. Cards. Before. They. Go. Out. Of. Print.

Given my recent success maxing all the Rebellion rewards, I can confidently say this isn't going to be an issue for this set. I learned my lesson. Don't be like past me. Don't look back at the Rebellion rewards five years from now and regret not prioritizing them when they were still actively dropping. Learn from my experience. It’s an easy lesson to absorb now, rather than endure later.

Anyway, I'm off to enjoy my maxed Rebellion set and just generally feel good about avoiding that particular future headache. Join me in the present, where planning pays off.

This post really hit home for me, especially the part about missing out on Chaos Legion rewards. I’ve just started taking Splinterlands more seriously, and I’m already anxious about making sure I don’t have those same regrets down the road. Your story and the way you laid it all out really gave me the insight I needed. I’m all in on maxing out the Rebellion set while the opportunity’s still there. Seriously, this felt like a gamer’s version of a wake-up call.

Also, I’d really like to connect and learn from your journey. Do you happen to have a Discord or any socials where we could talk more about the game and swap strategies? Would love to link up if you’re down!
