Splinterlands Community Engagement Challenge: Modifier Mastery

avatar

Hello Hive gaming community! I hope you are all doing well. This is my entry to Splinterlands Community Engagement Challenge: Modifier Mastery. I will write about a modifier I focus on, my go to team combo and why it works. I will show a battle link showing my tactic in action.

⚔️🛡️ Keep Your Distance🛡️⚔️

In “Keep Your Distance,” any unit with a melee attack cannot be used in the battle. This includes units with two attack types where one of them is melee. They are also not allowed. In this modifier, we must compose our team with magic, ranged and units with no specific attack type.

⚔️🛡️ Go To Team Combo🛡️⚔️

In "Keep Your Distance" modifier, I use a team combo composed of Water element. The Water element is perfect for this modifier for the following reasons.

The Water archon adds +1 magic attack

Marlai Singariel, the Water archon adds +1 magic to her units. She makes their attacks stronger and blends good with the rest of the team.

The Water element has strong units with magic attacks

The Water element has three units with magic attacks that gets increased by the archon. They are good units that work together. We can also include a neutral unit that has magic attacks in the mix.

Lunaki Howler can team up with the three units above to add its magic attacking prowess in the team.

The Water element has strong units with ranged attacks

The Water element has two units with range attacks that can be a good choice to include in the team combo. They are good units that work together. They can also be a defensive choice if needed in the strategy. There is a neutral unit that has ranged attack that can help the team.

Alan Musketeer is a good unit to blend with the team. It's a unit with ranged attack. It has an ability called dual strike enabling it to attack two times.

The Water element has a defensive unit with no attack

The water element has a defensive unit with no attack. It can take attacks and delay the opposing team in attacking your magic or ranged units.

⚔️🛡️ Why My Strategy Works🛡️⚔️

All the above reasons point to Water element as the best combo in "Keep Your Distance" modifier. It has a defensive unit with no attack that can be placed in front, it has strong magic units and strong ranged units.

⚔️🛡️ Battle Link that Showcase My Tactic 🛡️⚔️

The battle showcases the "Keep Your Distance" modifier. As I wrote above, the team I use is the Water element. My team composition is made up of the following members:

Asel Alagosdil, the unit with no attack is in the first position. It's role is to take the attacks at first and delay the damage from coming to the main actors.

Alan Musketeer follows behind. I know the ranged units should be placed way back because they cannot attack when in first position. This is a tactic I copied from other players. I noticed they placed their ranged units in front of magic units to take damage and preserve the magic attacking units. That explains why I placed him in this position.

After the two units, all magic attacking units are placed behind them. Special mention to Mystic Scaleweaver that I placed way back at last position. My tactic was to preserve it as it is the most valuable player (MVP) in this match. It has three magic attack and has an ability Slow. The opposing team has magic too with differences in team members and placements of units. I think my tactic is better since my team took the victory.
