Flipadelphia Day 27: A Good Amount of Activity and an Unusual Play
As Some Owned Cards Fall Off, Others are Moving Along.
None of this article is financial/investment/legal advice, it contains a strategic valuation analysis of speculative assets that can be subject to market fluctuations. You are suggested to seek out a Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) for all investments and the author is not an RIA. Splinterlands' Terms of Service identifies Splinterlands/Steem Monsters as not being an Investment Company. As defined by the U.S. Code of Federal Regulations, Steem Monsters (the parent company of Splinterlands) and the Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) that was published by Steem Monsters can be argued to rise to the definition of being classified as Financial Institutions in the United States. This is a duty to warn and inform given that the actions to be described regard the valuation of assets and speculation of events to take place.
Patience paid off and opportunities arose. Perfect bargains did not exist, but after the market-shifting end of tradeable Rewards cards, it is important to re-consider what is a good deal. It also was an opportunity to spot different types of opportunities that may not necessarily be immediate flips and take full advantage. The rental market is going to be leveraged more to keep consistent revenue coming in, even during the early part of a season. Shifts are made over time and integrating a value approach as well is much like how a bond may issue a coupon or how a stock may issue a dividend.

What's Out?
It look enough for Level 4 Gold Foil Chaos Knight and Level 3 Gold Foil Silent Sha-vi to be snatched up. These were cards enjoyed good use back during the playing era of Splinterlands. They were bought at dirt cheap prices. Remember when a Gold Foil Chaos Knight was $.48? How about when a Gold Foil Silent Sha-vi was $.75? Times have changed.
It took roughly two weeks for the Level 3 Gold Foil Lichen Beast to be sold and that was a great bargain basement sort of a flip. The price hit a level that would be cleared and still turn a healthy profit, mission accomplished.
Waiting to Swipe Right
These cards are still attractive and in their prime, so give them a shot and bring them home.
Level 2 Gold Foil Water Caller and Level 2 Gold Foil Regal Peryton have fallen in price. Support broke for both of them and now the hope is for a turnaround. The selling price will not change, patience is key. The only way these cards will be pulled is if the rental price justifies the removal from the market.
What's In?
Four new cards have entered the fray and three are on the market right now to be sold. The Level 3 Gold Foil Scavo Chemist and Level 2 Gold Foil Portal Spinner were both at a discount compared to the second lowest priced card. These cards were at support levels and buying them made a lot of sense. The Level 3 Gold Foil Septic Slime was priced at a support point and it had upside potential.
The most interesting purchase was the Level 3 Gold Foil Coastal Nymph and this is the most intriguing and possibly strategy altering purchase.
Seeking Value
The Gold Foil Coastal Nymph is a card that attracts a high Return on Asset, especially in 1 BCX form. It made sense to purchase it at $1.59, which was already a decent deal, but it was renting out for 31.923 DEC and there were rental rates that were even higher. This card joins the Level 3 Gold Foil Night Ghoul in a possible diversification from strictly flipping into generating rental revenue from select cards.
The payback turnaround at this given rate for the Gold Foil Coastal Nymph is 65 days being rented out. After this period and at that rate, the card has paid for itself without ever being sold. It's a rental property with an upside when it does go for sale.
In general, Gold Foil Riftwatchers cards can be really good rental assets to own. It will be kept in mind going forward.
