Social Media Challenge: Silver vs Gold

Hello Splinterfam! here I am back again for this week's social media challenge. For this week's challenge, I decided to share to you a battle wherein I fought on Gold League with a almost complete silver deck. For some of you who don't know, there would be a soulbound reward cards that would be released in game on January 31, 2023. It would be released after the End of Season which would be 1 days 4 hours 37 minutes as of this moment. If you want to read about Soulbound Cards, kindly click the link. For those of you who are new here, I mainly play on Silver League Modern format only so everything I would talk about here is mainly for this certain league only.

The upcoming Reward card would cause all reward cards to be out of print meaning the current reward cards even if the latest set of reward card would be gone from the loot chest, so if haven't said your goodbyes yet, do it now (Lol). Soulbound cards are tied to the account you received it, meaning that they cannot be transferred, rented, delegated, burned, or sold and the only way currently to acquire them is through loot chest or daily chest. That is why I am planning to battle on Gold league to acquire gold chest on my daily focus because currently on silver league my reward cards drop are merely ok and I hope that by moving up a league would make me receive better rewards. I think silver decks can also compete in the gold league, I just tried it yesterday and it got me a decent win rate but I can't say the same on early part of the season. So starting next season I am planning to battle on gold league but I guess I am doing it in the later part of the season because most good players are on high MMR and that I would hopefully be up against a player of the same card level as mine (Lol). Let's jump into one of the battles I had on Gold league.

The rule sets were:

Yup! There are three rules now.

Target Practice - All Ranged and Magic attack Monsters have the Snipe ability.

Rise of the Commons - Only Common and Rare Monsters may be used in battles.

Broken Arrows - Ranged attack Monsters may not be used in battles.

A 42 mana cap with Fire, Water, Earth, Life, Death, and Dragons available to use. When I first saw the mana cap and the rules I knew I have to use Water because there two good high mana cost common and rare monster that would synergize well with Possibilus the Wise. I opted with Possibilus because the good ones to use in this rules is magic and melee, since I don't have a maxed silver level obsidian I used Possibilus and decided to counter my opponents line up by bursting his monsters before he could burst mine. Since Earth monsters are slower I figure I would be the first go kill all his monsters.

The line up I used was:

Possibilus the Wise - I used him because of the ability he gives which is trample and reach and I always run the first three monsters on my line up whenever I am using Possibilus and the give quite a good win rate.

Diemonshark - A great tank and damager because of his ability enrage which increases it high speed and high attack making him more survivable and hits hard.

Arkemis the Bear - Another great card who is like a legendary card in my opinion because of his ability the halving and protect which would make him good to use in this battle providing additional survivability to all monster and debuffing opponent's monster by decreasing their attack.

Deeplurker - A high damage attacking monster with opportunity ability, the MVP of this battle because of the Trample Possibilus gives Deeplurker can kill opponent's low health monster plus it can execute another attack.

Chaos Agent - To serve as a meat shield for monster with opportunity and because of the Target practice rule he would be most likely the target of opponent's ranged monsters. Plus the dodge ability and decent speed is also a good addition to his survivability.

Venari Wavesmith - To give additional armor to all my monster raising their survivability.

Pelacor Bandit - A to hurt opponent's backline and to eliminate potential treat, like supports and other low health damage damage monsters.

  • Conclusion

With the upcoming Soulbound reward card, I think where would be a slight change in the meta and with the addition of the three rules on battle a lot would be have to be change, more adjustment and more practice. I think players who are building their deck such as myself will have to rent to reach a higher league because the higher the league the greater the potential reward is. I think my silver deck can compete with gold level decks as of now, I don't know in the coming days if I would be able to do so because of the shifting meta. But more likely if I am unable to compete in Gold league with my silver deck without any rent I think I would just stay in the silver league and I'm just gonna have to pray harder do get good reward cards (Lol). Let me know if you have a good and profitable approach regarding the newly added Soulbound card this coming Tuesday.
