Social Media Challenge: Grum Flameblade
Social Media Challenge: Grum Flameblade
Hello Splinterfam! Here I am back again for this weeks social media challenges. For this week's challenge I decided to share and talk about one of my favorite card for Chaos Legion edition, Grum Flameblade. For those of you who are new here, I mainly play on Silver League Modern format only so everything I would talk about here is mainly for this certain league only. Now firstly let us take a look at Grum's Stats
Grum Flameblade
- Edition - Chaos Legion
- Rarity - Legendary
- Element - Fire
- Attack - Melee
- Abilities - Bloodlust and Void Armor (Obtains Void on level 2 and Giant Killer on level 3)
Stats
If we look at the stats for max silver level (level 2) which requires 3 bcx to reach the level. His Attack is 4 which is ok for a 11 mana cost cards, Speed is 1 which is fine especially on Reverse Speed and he will eventually acquire speed up if he is able to kill a monster with his bloodlust ability, His Armor is also high and with the void armor and void magic attackers may have a hard time killing him. Also with 12 health he is very tanky, the only thing I would say for his down side is his low speed but as I said earlier Speed wont be a problem in the later round. Grum is both good to use in low mana and high mana cap battles due to his bloodlust ability because every time he kills a monster he gains one of each stats making him unkillable on low mana cap battles.
Synergies
For summoners:
Conqueror Jacek is a good choice because of the pierce ability he gives to all monster which would make it easier for Grum Flameblade to kill a monster.
Skargore is also good because of the enrage he gives to all monster which increases the damage of Grum and speed when hit.
For Rule set:
Armored Up - All Monsters have 2 Armor in addition to their normal Armor stat. (Because of the void armor ability and void, he would be more tanky which would make him last a little bit longer in battle even if faced with a magic attacking monsters)
Melee Mayhem - Melee attack Monsters can attack from any position. (Melee Mayhem is good for Grum Flameblade because you can place him it the backline for him to accumulate stats assuming he could last hit monsters. Think of him as the last boss fight lol)
Reverse Speed - Monsters with the lowest Speed attack first and have the highest chance of evading attacks. (Because of his 1 speed he would mostly dodge every attack except magic and monsters with 1 speed. Don't worry his bloodlust ability would not affect his speed so it is safe to use him in this ruleset)
Battle
Let me share you a battle where I like to use him. I always use him on low mana cap battle from 15-20 mana cap.
The Rule set were:
Stampede - The Trample ability can trigger multiple times per attack if the trampled Monster is killed.
Taking Sides - Neutral Monsters may not be used in battles.
A 15 Mana cap with Fire, Earth, Light, Death, and Dragon splinters available to use. I used fire because the Mana Cap which fits for a summoner plus Grum and that there is no neutral monster meaning no scavo hireling. This strategy is countered with monster with repair ability unless on higher mana cap battles wherein there are other attacking monsters to break opponent's shield then would last hit by Grum.
The Line up I used was:
I used Skargore over Tarsa because of the extra speed Grum could gain when he kills monsters one by one. This strategy works even if there are many monster on opponent's side because he gains armor by killing monster which would make him take extra damage and gaining attack makes him able to one shot every monster. Scorch Fiend's role there is for meatshield purpose only.

Conclusion
Grum Flameblade one of my most used tank in fire because of how beefy he is. His counters are monster with Giant killer and speedy monsters because of his low speed it is hard for him to kill speedy monsters, he needs to kill 1st before ramping up his stat. For me I think Grum is not suited to fight is high mana cap battles because of his one speed he could easily bursted the first round before he could even attack so I only recommend using him on low to mid mana cap. Overall Grum Flameblade is a good card to have. I haven't tried yet to pair him to a dragon summoner and use Oshuur Constantia and resurrect him, I wonder if he would still retain the stats he acquired, maybe I would try that next.
