My Hive Story.... So, what's yours?

Hello fellow Hive owners,

I am sure you all are gearing up for Christmas and also to welcome New Year, me too!!!

Well, there is this blog going on on Hive Blockchain with topic My Hive Story and even I was tagged by my fellow blogger @steemflow few days back in his twitter share and here I am writing my own Hive Story.

Not sure who actually started this blog My Hive Story, but it seems many of the posts points to @whatsup and @snook and I have picked up the blog from @acesontop and my vote of thanks to these guys (and others if it's someone else) for starting this blog chain and giving an opportunity to write about our journey so far on Hive Blockchain!!!

Here I go with the details based on the 10 questions to be answered as part of this:

1. How long have you been on the Blockchain?

It was a strange story of how I got into Hive (or I should say the earlier one, Steem), but before that, let me tell you all when I got it!!! Yes, it was One fine day in September 2017 when I was introduced about this Blockchain by a person with ID @composer who happened to be my client as I use to work on helping on tech issues on experts-exchange.com and the guy I mentioned needed some help to install Oracle database Software and in return, he helped me to get into this wonderful thing and it's been over 4 years since then!!!

2. What was your background in cryptocurrency when you first came to the Blockchain?

I can say I was illiterate in terms of Cryptos, although I had read words Blockchain and Cryptocurrencies, but, never tried to explore until then.

But, with the introduction to Hive, I slowly started exploring things and that's how the Cryptos came into my life.

3. What was your background in writing when you first came to the Blockchain?

Since, I am with Software Development background, I use to write blogs on the technologies and tools I worked and that helped me to start blogging, but, believe me, like many of the bloggers, my detailed tech blogs use to earn in pennies as there weren't many interested in technology things especially Software tool sand technologies.

So, slowly I started exploring other topics like photography, writing about the current affairs, Sports and all!!!

4. How many people did you know when you first came to the Blockchain?

Well, except for @composer, the one who introduced me to Hive(Steemit), I didn't know any.

There were few tech savvy guys who appreciated my blogs initially, but it was still pennies I use to earn on my blogs.

5. How did you meet people when you first came to the Blockchain?

Like I said, there were few who welcomed me when I joined and wrote that My Introduction post, after that, there were few likes and comments when I use to post my tech blogs, but it wasn't that easy to get along and make many friends initially.

I thought I was also bit hesitant to reach out other guys or visit their blogs and appreciate what they wrote as I was totally new to the way the Blockchain social networks work.

6. Who did you look up to when you first came to the Blockchain?

Obviously it was @composer, who had many friends by then and he used to guide me a lot and introduced me to many of his friends and that's how I slowly started picking up and by the time, I was One month old, I think I had quite a handful of online friends who used to guide me, upvote my content.

And I started pay more attention to curation although my vote worth was less and I started investing my blog earnings to get delegation and that led to one of my biggest or I can say my most important day on Hive(Steemit) as I got a delegation of 5K Steem Power

7. How would you describe your first three months on the Blockchain?

There were more disappointments than happy days as I continued getting pennies as post rewards and I think I was bit stubborn not to speak with people or might be the way I was grown was like that.

That's when I started understanding the way things work on Blockchain like curation, commenting on other's blogs and all.

I picked up that, if we have to grow on Blockchain, it has to be curation and interaction with others along with blogging to keep ourselves exposed to other members and gel with them.

8. Has being a part of the Blockchain changed you in any way for the good?

Obviously, I use to be a lazy guy before I got introduced to Blockchain and as I said, I never use to interact much with others.

But, that all changed when I started understanding the things and infact, I started making more friends than I have in real.

When I initially joined, it was all blogging only and I was of the impression that, these Blockchain blogging sites are just for content writing only.

That got changed with the introduction of Splinterlands and as a natural gamer, I was fully attracted by it and there was no turning back!!

I can proudly say that, Splinterlands totally changed me in terms of gaming, earning on my blogs and making more friends.

9. What is your favorite memory from your time on the Blockchain?

Well, I can't forget that anytime!!! I was still in my early days putting my baby steps on Blockchain, may be some 4-5 months old when I got a delegation of 5K Steem Power!!!

I was totally shocked to see my vote worth and when I checked, it was @fulltimegeek who had delegated that Steem Power to me and that was the most memorable day of my Blockchain life as someone recognized my limited curation thing and yes, as I said above, I use to work seriously on curation and I use to comment a bit as well.

But, with the introduction to Stewards of Gondor (Yes, that's how we have been called by @fulltimegeek for being putting the Steem Power into good work) and that is when I got to know about guys like @c0ff33a, @abh12345, @taskmaster4450 and others who were also part of that program by @fulltimegeek and those were best days of my life as I use to learn a lot from those legends and especially @abh12345's Curation reports helped me a lot to get myself into making myself the much improved curator and to engage more with others.

That is also the time I got to know about @davemccoy and he was of more influence on me to get into Splinterlands as he use to bring out his analysis, knowledge sharing about Splinterlands, cards, Splinters and all and there is no turning back after that!!!

10. If you could advise a new person signing up to Hive, what would it be?

Blockchain and Blogging sites like Hive are not like those use to be earlier.

We have many onboarding programs now which helps the people in their early days to get them comfortable and there are also more chances now that, there will be many friends of you who are already there and blogging and will be ready to help in those early days.

Inspite of this, say if someone is totally new to Hive, just try to spend some time on how things work, try to explore the communities, try to understand the do's and don'ts before getting into fast gear of blogging.

Interaction, bringing out genuine content and being humble are key unless someone comes into Hive with huge investment into Hive/Hive Power.

Overall, engagement will be key to get more audience on one's own blogs and grow here on Hive!!!

That's a bit about my journey and the way I have been on Hive Blockchain and I know tagging people is something many won't like and my apologies for tagging few of the influences without whom I couldn't have come this long.

It's been good so far and I am sure it will be better as we move along and make more friends on this wonderful Blockchain!!

Thanks for shaping me as a blogger with your votes, comments and help in any other way.

Wishing you Merry Christmas and advance new year wishes :)

Hey @coolguy123 , I don't visit my blog very regularly but happy to see a notification from you! So of course I read your story and want to say thank you to YOU for helping me to stay into the whole Steem/Hive/Splinterlands ecosystem. It was the caring and cool Stewards of Gondor that gave me the energy that I needed to stick with these platforms. And you were one of the early people that I could tell were worth spending some time with!

I hope you have a great rest of your holiday and a terrific 2022!!!
