Hello Hive ❤️

Welcome back to the CBRS Podcast, where we dive into the latest happenings in the Hive blockchain and its vibrant community! Episode 29 was packed with energy, updates, and some heartfelt moments as we caught up on a busy week. From community engagement challenges to thrilling events like HiveFest 10, here’s a detailed recap of what we discussed, written in simple terms for all our listeners and Hive enthusiasts.

Kicking Off with the Dapplest and Community Engagement

We kicked off the podcast by diving into our usual segment, TheDappList, where we promote awesome dApps on Hive. This week, we spotlighted @thedistriator which got a solid 80 upvotes and 66 comments on the post. That’s a great turnout, with a nice amount of HIVE and HBD rewarded for the community’s efforts! However, we noticed a trend: the longer we run these promotions, the fewer upvotes we seem to get. It’s a bit disheartening because we know there are many more of us that can help.

We wondered aloud—what if we just asked the community to vote without any extra rewards? Would more people show up? We compared it to the Vibes Competition Week 33, where a poll for the top 15 entries got 400 votes, yet the Dapplest struggles to hit similar numbers. It feels like some folks might be “hibernating” when it comes to voting on dApps. Still, we’re committed to pushing for more proactive participation and hyping up Web3 projects. So, come on, Hive community—let’s get those upvotes rolling and show some love!

A T-Shirt Mishap and Upcoming Hosting Focus

In a lighthearted moment, we shared a funny story about why one of us wasn’t rocking a Hive t-shirt. Spoiler: the washing machine broke, and the new one was arriving the next day.

Looking ahead, we’re shifting gears to focus on @Holozing next Friday. Expect an article soon outlining our voting roadmap for upcoming weeks, plus more #games like Rising Star and others on the horizon. Stay tuned for some fun gaming content!

Hive Echo and StarCars: A Busy Crew

The @Hive-Echo project took a backseat this week because the team was swamped with Talent Land and other commitments. They’re just getting back into the groove, so we’re cutting them some slack. We’re still waiting for a reply from Hive-Echo team and we’re hopeful we can lend a hand to ease their workload. Eddie’s working on something big, and we’re ready to offer our “four hands” to help out.

As for the Wheel of Names, we skipped it this week since the stats for the latest round haven’t been posted yet. We’ll either cover last week’s stats in the next podcast or drop a separate video to announce the winner, depending on Eddie’s plans. Either way, the excitement isn’t over—it’s just on pause!

HiveFest 10: Kuala Lumpur, It's going to be Epic!

One of the biggest highlights of the episode was the announcement of @HiveFest 10, happening in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from October 15th to 19th, 2025. This is a milestone event—the 10th edition of #HiveFest! We’re thrilled about the special vibe this one promises. The website, revamped by @Roeland, looks stunning, and the team is hard at work making it an unforgettable experience.

While ticket prices aren’t out yet, @Gtg mentioned on Telegram that he’s working on flight discounts. Last time we seen, roundtrip flights from the U.S. were around $1,400, but routes through Tokyo or the Netherlands might be cheaper. We’re checking the details and will update you next week. For now, start saving up and marking your calendars—this is one event you don’t want to miss. We’re hoping at least one of us can make it to strengthen those community bonds in person!

BuzzParty Recap: A Mixed Bag of Experiences

We took a moment to reflect on a recent #BuzzParty2025 event in Austria, which was a mix of highs and lows. The trip was exhausting—18 hours on five different trains with a very early start at 4 a.m. and delays that pushed arrival to 10:30 p.m. Despite the travel woes, the scenic Austrian views and a private cabin on the last train made it worthwhile.

The event itself was a blast! We met tons of Hive community members, hung out, and had drinks. It was especially cool for @Dovycola, who experienced his first big Hive meetup and soaked up the attention (before sneaking off to play Nintendo). The presentations were a hit, onboarding four new “Hyvians” (though they hoped for ten). Highlights included @worldmappin project automating location-based posting, a fantastic talk on @Apis.hive by @livinguktaiwan, and updates on @ecency and @ThreeSpeak.

We also demoed @Thedistriator and showed off a groundbreaking feature: creating @Hivedebit cards with NFC technology. Using an NFC 215 or 216 card, you can link your Hive account, set a spending limit (like 10 or 20 HBD), and scan it with your phone to make transactions. The crowd went wild when we handed out cards—everyone rushed to grab one! Gandalf even skimmed the demo card to check it's security, but it was all in good fun. The event ended with a fun slide down a giant tower, a group dinner, and bittersweet goodbyes. These in-person connections make all Hive events so special.

Digibyte Joins Hive

In exciting news, @digibytecoin has joined Hive, onboarded through InLeo! Some of us knew the Digibyte team years ago when we worked with Komodo, pushing for a Hive connection. Back then, it didn’t quite work out, but now things are different. We’re eager to reconnect with the team (if the old crew is still there) and explore how Digibyte’s integration with Komodo’s wallet could benefit Hive.

Komodo’s non-custodial wallet supports multiple coins, and we’re curious if their tools could help Hive users. There’s an AMA on X on May 6th, 2025, at 4:30 p.m. UTC, hosted by Hive, where we’ll dive deeper into Digibyte’s onboarding. We hope the Hive community welcomes them warmly and avoids the disconnect we’ve seen with some other projects, like Dash. Let’s make this a true collaboration!

Skate Hive: Shredding It on Hive

We gave a shoutout to @SkateHive, a community of skaters who built their own front-end on Hive. They’ve rewarded skaters with an impressive $88,000 to date! This shows what’s possible when passionate people create niche communities on Hive. We’d love to see more groups—like @TravelFeed build their own front-ends, maybe even with custom tokens. Skate Hive is proof that anyone with front-end skills can make waves on Hive.

VSC Altera: Testing and Big Wins

VSC Altera is in the testing phase, working on Metamask and social logins, as well as Hive and HBD transfers. The community found some bugs, which the team is fixing, and they’re preparing to launch Metamask integration for Ethereum-based tokens. We’re curious about how gas fees will work—maybe Hive will cover them in the background? Their DHF proposal also passed, securing half a million in funding. Congrats, @VSC.Network now get to work! 😁

@Ecency’s SDK solution completely relies on direct access of blockchains BTC, ETH, SOL, etc. not 2nd layer or bridge approach. It’s a game-changer for onboarding people who don’t want to create a Hive wallet right away. We even pitched an idea on X: a second-layer comment system where Web2 users (via X or Google) can react to Hive posts without rewards, bridging Web2 and Web3. It’s like giving them a taste of the pie to hook them in!

Conclave Arcana and Splinterlands Buzz

Gaming fans, listen up! @Splinterlands Conclave Arcana’s pre-sale has five days left (as of the podcast posting), and the #community is buzzing. One of us admitted to dropping $1,000 already, tempted to spend more for better rewards and a shot at a Blackfoil card. We shared our card counts—100 Standard, a few Alchemy and Legendary—and marveled at the pre-sale hitting $1 million in under two weeks.

@Aggroed is keeping the hype alive, burning SPS tokens and promoting the game at comic shops. We love seeing this hustle—it’s exactly what Hive needs to grow. Speaking of growth, the #Vibes Music Competition is inviting musicians to join their competition end have the chance to win big every 10 days, offering $1,100 in prizes plus thousands in upvotes. Musicians, don’t sleep on this!

Wrapping Up with Gratitude

Episode 29 was a rollercoaster of updates, laughs, and community love. From HiveFest 10 dreams to Digibyte’s onboarding, Skate Hive’s success, and VSC’s progress, the Hive ecosystem is thriving. We’re grateful for everyone who tunes in, votes on the Dapplist, and joins the conversation.

Mark your calendars for the Digibyte AMA on May 6th, start planning for HiveFest in Kuala Lumpur, and grab those Conclave Arcana pre-sale deals. Until next time, keep hyping up Hive, and we’ll see you in the next CBRS Podcast.

This ties into @ecency ’s SDK, which is leveraging VSC’s open-source tools to let users log in with wallets like Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, or Tron.

Not sure source of this, but it is not correct. We are not using VSC yet, our solution completely relies on direct access of blockchains BTC, ETH, SOL, etc. not 2nd layer or bridge approach.

Your show is maturing with every new episode, and I like this one, where you got a bit more serious (not that old ones aren't good 😃), as some of the topics are like that... We have to shake out the community, to stretch a bit more, to get more (actively) involved in more things than just printing out posts...
Hive is our home, and we have to keep it clean, active, and vibrant!

Great job, guys! Keep pushing! 🍻

This time it was quite serious indeed, but the reason was I think be cause Marius and Art were tired. We will keep on trying things out in the podcast and the way we do the podcast and what we talk about to have things more interesting and engaging and not boring. So once again, thank you for taking the time by watching our podcast 😍

I didn't say it's boring, but rather different... 😃 Which is many times a good thing!
Keep doing it! People are watching, following, and hopefully, waking up and taking action, getting more involved... 😃

I hope I won't forget to upvote on our spotlight for TheDappList this week because I won't be at home. But I'll do my best to do it. If not, I'll vote next week when I see your podcast and I'll be home.

Users would use their Ethereum wallet on Hive. Why would there be fees on Hive?

This shit is breaking my mind 🤣 if you do transactions on ETH network you got fees, but so now ETH uses VSC Network and so how did the fees go away.. why would anyone want to use ETH Network?

Well you still need to use ETH to hold ETH token and USDC. So you'll have to pay fees unfortunately (for now 😉)

Regarding Hive projects, i help whenever can. I believe that my biggest problem in helping is free time and information. I usually look at posts related to what I like. I recently discovered that there are ways to vote outside of Hive to help our community. I'm even following your account to try to stay more informed.
