CGRF Sponsorship Proposal - Pirate Nation
CGRF Sponsorship Proposal - Pirate Nation
The purpose of this proposal is to determine if the SPS DAO would like to officially sponsor Web3 gamers that were negatively impacted by the shutdown of Pirate Nation via the Crypto Gaming Recovery Fund. If this proposal passes, eligible players will be able to visit a claim page made available by the Splinterlands team to verify ownership of an impacted wallet for a period of 90 days from the launch of the Sponsorship program.
The SPS DAO will allocate the following shares of the Crypto Gaming Recovery Fund as follows:
- Up to 250,000 shares will be allocated to applicants for this project.
- No wallet will receive more than 250 shares.
- Distribution will be done on a best efforts basis based on Pirate Nation NFT holdings and $PIRATE token holdings as of the shutdown announcement on 8/19/2025
- Individual share allocations will be determined based on related NFTs and the amount of $PIRATE tokens held in the applicants wallet compared to the holdings of other Pirate Nation participants that apply for Crypto Gaming Recovery Fund sponsorship.
Sponsorship shares are based on an assessment of the projects overall size and valuation at the time of closure by the CGRF Committee.
All CGRF Sponsorship Proposals are run for 7 days and if passed the approval is final.
We already have 2 projects with approved support. Shouldn't we wait to see how those do before we try another? If they end up being a net positive, we could move forward with more; if not, we could decide not to spend more funds on something that ends up not working out.
The amount of projects we support doesn't change the allocation the DAO voted to put in the CGRF. More just means it's spread out over potentially more players.
I know that. We allocated a certain amount and we're obviously not spending it all in the first 2 projects that appeared. But what I'm saying is that we don't need to rush and do many projects at once. We could do those 2 and see if it's worth it. If not, we could vote to stop. Maybe 2 is too little. Maybe 3 or 5 is a better number to test. My main point is: let's not spend all the funds on these before we know it is a positive thing.
The amount of funds allocated to year 1 are getting spent no matter what. I think you fundamentally don't understand the project. If we say "there's 1 million SPS allocated to year 1 of the project" and 5 people participate, they're splitting that 1 million SPS. It is absolutely imperative that we get more players not less. Ideal situation is that 1 million SPS is split amongst hundreds or thousands of players, not a handful.
Either way, just vote however you want to vote.
Wait, so we approved 2 projects with a certain number of shares for each. But those will not be given right away? We have to wait 1 year where do a bunch of these projects and only after that we pay according to the shares?
The shares are relative to other players. They will get immediate sign up bonuses from Splinterlands and the DAO rewards come at the end of each yearly cycle. It's planned to run for 7 years if it's working.
Ok so the sign up bonus are fixed and come from the company, while the DAO rewards only come in after the cycle and they will depend on how many projects there are. I didn't understand that was how it worked. I also didn't know there were sign up bonus from the company. Ok, I guess at this point it's positive to get more of them out there. Thanks for the explanation.
thanks for this conversation, helped clear up a few issues. + got my vote now
Yeah I voted against but I'll change it.

Thanks for doing the proposal - is there something like an overview page where one can see the results? Because that would be really interesting. It's early, I know :-D But it would be great to see that in the future, the amount of shares given out, the amount of tokens in the pool, how many were claimed, and such.
We want a tracking page in game, but this is basically the pilot episode.
That's perfect! I'll be waiting for it, hopefully the initiative gets a lot of traction & new players. Thank you!
