Education in Nigeria 😂🤣😂😭

Most of my friends graduate from the university in 2019, 2020,
section, today is when they are rounding up their NYSC ( national youth services corp) after seeing their uploads on Facebook whats app, Instagram, and Twitter. get me thinking about how our education system in this country is regulated, with their constant strike with the government. in this part of the nation, we don't calculate our duration in school based on the program we are undergoing, we calculate it based on ASUU ( Academic staff union of university ) where if you are running a 4 years program, you add 2 years if you are running a 5-year program, you add 2 years, the 4 and 5 years are for your program while the 2 year is for ASUU Strike.
The ASUU is a body that regulates almost all state and federal university in Nigeria, This body fight for the betterment of the university. i.e. they make sure that there is a good laboratory, sports complex, nice infrastructure, and increment in lecturer salaries, but lately, it seems they are fighting for their interest, not regarding the set- back it will cause on people's life
this body that regulates school activities in Nigeria, strikes every year, it reaches the extent that if you got admission into the school, A 4 years program will automatically turn 6 years while a 5-year program will automatically turn 7 years.
I got admitted to the federal university of petroleum resource effurun delta state to study marine engineering through Direct entering in jamb 2017/2018 season I got admitted to 200level due to my National Diploma (ND) in marine engineering At Global Maritime academy. Before I could resume school, the school has been on strike for months, after which I round-up 200level, 300level I manage to escape a 2 weeks strike which happen immediately after we vacate the section, November 2019 I was in 400level, February 2020, ASUU strike started again which continue until the covid -19 lockdown begins on March 2020, where everything was eventually shut down and the ENDEARS protest begins, which a lot of things happen in which everyone is aware of, especially the Oct, 20-2020. after the protest, the federal government met a few of the demands from Asuu in December 2020.
January 2021 we resume school and wrote exam April. i.e. to say I spend 3 years in 400 level, from 2019, 2020 and 2021 after which I want for 6-month industrial training, on march 8 2022 ASUU strike started again, from then till the time of writing am still at home, and am just one exam from graduation, what was suppose to be a 4 years program is now 5 years and counting.
so seeing my guys yesterday with their NYSC graduation certificate makes me very happy, and everything that has a beginning must surely have an end.
congratulations to all my guys for completing their NYSC program
yesterday, and I pray that the favoured market locates you guys.
