Another week and another Splinterlands Article. I mean I really need to find other things to write about.. oh wait I do write about other things. Okay good now I feel better about writing about Splinterlands again, thanks voice in my head who I reason with all day!

What the Yaba is going on?

Now all I know, or all I think I know is that this Yaba Pickle is designed from someone in the Splinterlands community. And honestly it could NOT be. I have no idea. I am basing all of that on a comment on the official announcement post:

But that doesn't matter honestly. I want the Pickle of Yaba. I NEED the pickle of Yaba!

I mean just look at this sexy beast!

But to bring you up to speed on this Pickle (who is futurstic?). It is a new card for Splinterlands.

But how you get it is a little different and I will try to explain it best as I can.

There are 3 ways to get a Pickle.

First Way to get a Pickle

A snapshot will be taken and for every 1,000 SPS you have staked you will be able to purchase 1 Pickle for 150 DEC. So 10,000 SPS staked and you can buy 10.

It is that easy. And honestly I love this method, because while yes the Whales will be able to buy massive quantities of the card and corner the market. Those little guys only need 1,000 SPS staked to be able to buy this promo card and it is only 150 DEC (which is like $0.15).

Second Way to get a Pickle

A Raffle system. You buy a Raffle ticket for 200 DEC and you get a Pickle card. But also for each Raffle card you purchase you get a chance to win a Gold Foil version of the card.

There is no limit to the amount of raffle tickets you can buy but I think they are pulling the raffle every day for 50 days. So I would assume after Day all raffle tickets are burned so maybe you have better chances in the later days?

But also I think you could purchase say 50 Raffle Tickets on day 1 and only enter 1 per day into the Raffle. So this will be VERY interesting to see how people play this out.

There will be 50 Gold Foil cards each with a mint #.

Edit/Clarification : Turns out that I am a idiot and that for these Raffle tickets you will need Aura and Vouchers as well ugh
200 Aura, 10 Vouchers, and 200 DEC per Raffle Ticket.
Well there goes my theory of getting in on the raffle.

Third Way to get a Pickle

Auction baby! So these are for 20 Black Foil cards. There is 1 Auction every 25 hours and the highest bid wins. Losers get their Auction Points back.

But what is interesting is that you need to craft Auction Points with (1000 Aura, 50 Vouchers, and 500 DEC). You can buy/sell Auction Points on secondary.

This will be very interesting to see for a few reasons.

1. How many Auction Points will each day's go for.
2. On the last day I assume people will bet ALL their left over Auction Points. But then will people dump their Auction Points on secondary for cheap to regain some of the investment back?

My Strategy

I have little over 3,000 SPS staked currently. So I will be buying 3 Yaba Pickles for 450 DEC. That is $0.45 for 3 cards. I need a few more to make it worth wild. I want at least a level 3 Yaba.

The way I see it is that I have 3 options to pick up more Yaba Pickles.

Option 1) Contact my WHALE friends who have thousands and thousands of SPS staked and are not going to purchase there full amount and send them DEC to buy the remaining that they are allowed.

Option 2) Buy Raffle Tickets for 200 DEC each because each ticket comes with a Yaba Pickle but also a Raffle Ticket.

Option 3) Buy more on secondary. These cards are $0.15 cards at mint. But I am sure there are whales out there looking to get the Black Foil versions and in pursuit of that they will be buying A LOT of Yaba's. Well actually not the Black Foil because the only way to get them is through auction, but the Gold Foil is from Raffle tickets which are 200 DEC. So will they list some of their regular Yaba's for under 150? or under 200? Time will tell.

But if you know me by now, you know just cause I have a plan doesn't mean it will come to fruition. Knowing me I may end up spending way to much on the Raffle Purchases and end up with a max level Yaba lol Wish my wallet good luck!

My Thoughts On This

🔥🔥🔥 I LOVE IT 🔥🔥🔥

I love new ways to get cards. I love how the team is incorporating LAND more and more. Auction Points require Aura which is made from Land. This is how the game will continue to grow and expand and I love it.

I also appreciate they having a fun card, that is not taken too seriously.
I also appreciate that the fun card is dirt cheap to purchase. If you just wanted 1 Yaba Pickle but don't have 1,000 SPS staked, you will most likely still be able to pick one up on secondary for around that $0.15 mark.

But what I really do like is that Black Foil and Gold Foils are not only limited to the Raffle and Auctions. People like me who are small minnows still have a chance to get the rare versions when buying them for 150 DEC.

Regular Foil
Gold Foil (2% drop rate, boosted to 4% with Alchemy Potions)
Black Foil (1 in 4,000 drop rate, boosted to 1 in 2,000 with Midnight Potions)

So yeah this is new and this is fun and I love it. Thank you Splinterlands for keeping the game active, fun and engaging!
