Splinterlands Land - I FOMO'd HARD
Now before we even get into this article.. I blame everything you are about to read on @nozem01. It is his fault that I started to really think about Land on Splinterlands.
Sure I bought a plot back during the pre sale. Then before I left Hive for 2 years I sold that plot for like $150 or something (on WAX). Since coming back to Splinterlands I was always curious about land and if it was worth it. I struggled a lot with a few things
- Do I try to get cards so I can play in WILD format?
- Do I start to look into LAND and see if it's worth it?
- Do I just focus on saving up my HIVE to buy Conclave Arcana packs when they release.
Recently (like as in 4 days ago) I decided that I was going to focus on #3 and just save up my money and buy Conclave Arcana Standard Booster Packs during the pre-sale so that I would be ready for when Chaos Legion leaves Modern Format. Then @nozem01 happened yesterday...
We were chatting is Discord (apparently we go way back.. shoutout to you buddy!) and this is our conversation...
Me: "LAND, is something I am also looking at in the future to see if its worth it. But without the DEC I doubt it would be"
Him: "At this time it's very much not worth it but when it gets to what they plan to, it's going to be amazing"
Me: "ugh don't tell me that lol FOMO is real"
and he just drops this screenshot nonchalantly...
And that is exactly what I needed to here.

Splinterlands team.. give this man a referral bonus or something because it was because of him I started down this Rabbit Hole and spending too much money on the the game...
Be Warned... This is going to be a LONG POST as I seriously went off the deep end today and yesterday guys. FOMO has never hit me this hard until now.
Step 1) Buy a Plot of Land
So all I knew at this point was I wanted a plot of land. And looking in the Marketplace I saw that you could buy a plot of land for $41.97.
So what did I do? Well I bought $50 worth of Credits obviously... and bought the Land Plot Claim!
You can watch the video on YouTube here so you can pause if you want:
So my Land is a Common Forest located in Dryae Tor (I think? still trying to figure out Regions and such).
And now I own a Plot of Land... What do I do now?
Step 2) Put Cards to work
Putting Cards to Work
I knew you had to put cards to work at your land and in doing so would basically remove them from being able to battle with them. So I needed to pick cards that were not in Modern Format right now. Turns out all the Untamed/Beta/etc cards I have are crap lol.
Getting a Power Source
But either way I had to get something going. I also struggled to figure out what the Runi Power Source was and how to get one. Turns out you have to buy one for 5,000 DEC per plot of land. Easy enough I guess.
Build a Building
You get 3 options of buildings to build. Basically you pick from Grain, SPS or Research... Well I want SPS obviously so I build a SPS Mine. It will only take... 169 days to finish building Great...
You can watch my painful experience trying to figure this out.
Now I have 1 plot of land that is building a SPS Mine so I will generate SPS for me in 169 days. I think. But I wanted more!
Step 3) Buy More Land...
This is where I ran into trouble. I admit I have a problem...
It is now the following day and I bought 30,000 ($30) more Credits. And the reason was is because I started to see other lands in my same Region that were CHEAP (well like $12.50 cheap) and I wanted an army of land.
So I bought 3 more plots of Land. Now I had 4 in total and I was stoked.
That was until someone told me that if you have 5 plots of land you get a 5% bonus to SPS and Glint Rewards...
Well shoot, okay 1 more plot of land is required then!
This time I bought a $28 plot of land because it was a Rare Land and it already had a Grain Mine being worked on. So I figured YOLO right win win.
So now I have 5 Plots of Land..
Step 4) I need more Cards to stake
So I went over to WAX and bought a crap ton of Chain Spinner because I knew they were dirt cheap and decent return.
So now I want for those to be sent over to Hive so I can upgrade them and then stake them.
Step 5) Here we go again.. 1 more Land.
Of course, this is what I get by jumping in without understanding what I am even doing. But it was told to me that in Land v1.75 the resources will change based on the type of land. I have 4 Forest and 1 Jungle which is not good since Forest and Jungle lands will produce Wood and not Grain..
Luckily enough I had just enough Credits to buy 1 more land...
I need a "Plains" land to build a Grain Farm on. So luckily enough there is a Grain land cheap enough for me to buy.
So now I have 6 Plots of Land!
4 Forest
1 Jungle
1 Plains
Step 6) Now what?
Well I have quickly jumped off into the deep end and I am above my head in water trying to stay afloat. But I think I am getting a handle on things.
My Next Steps:
Get 5,000 DEC so I can a Power Source for my Plains land, so I can start to build the Grain Building
I need to get more levelled up cards that fit for those lands. When Chaos Legion leaves Modern I will have more that I am willingly to stake but for now I am suffering.
I have spent $130 in buying Credits and 6 Plots of Land. And I am tapped out at this point. So now I need to wait and earn on PeakD and then have those earnings to get more DEC and such to work on my Plains land.
Plains: uses Life and Dragon
Forest/Jungle: uses Life and Earth
So I guess Life cards are what I am going to be trying to get here.
Until Next Time.... Thanks for reading and bearing with my terribly planned out Land Aventure!
HAHAHA laughed hard about that, sorry not sorry 😁
It would've been better to research before buying but I made the same mistake when I started with my land journey, your first plot was pretty expensive, $41 for a common land! Well good thing you made up for that with the two very cheap plots you found after that, so now it's grinding for DEC to stake on your lands and for cards you can put on to the lands!
yeah I mean we learn the most from our own mistakes right?
I now have 6 plots. I only need 5 (for the 5% bonus) and I have too many Forest plots so I will start with trying to sell one of them and then accumulate DEC and cards and keep up the Grind I guess lol
sounds like a plan!
So many things to do in splinterlands ecosystem, can’t wait for the long game of land!
!BBH
I know, I am just NOW understanding the long game of Land and wish I got into it way sooner but oh well. At least now I am ready... well kind of ready lol
Keep growing 👍

Wow, you really dove deep and invested a lot. I hope you will be happy with it!
I own two land plots myself that are being worked on. I have decided against buying any more land. There were two main reasons for that:
it costs quite a bit of land to buy the workers and the Energy Resource for it. At the moment you get virtually nothing for it and it was too risky for me.
I played Splinterlands because of the classic card battles and I still enjoy it. That's why I want to focus my investments more on that.
Nevertheless, I'm not absolutely pessimistic about land. I just have a slightly different focus.
