Where it all began

Some of you might remember when I posted this article a few weeks ago. But I did buy a Land Plot Claim when they were released years ago. Towards the end of 2022 I was getting off of HIVE as I just had way too much crypto stuff going on. So I transferred that NFT to WAX and it sold for 2,639 WAX ($110.84 value back then)!

I was over the moon because at that time LAND was still far away and I was an even smaller fish than I am today so I knew I wouldn't be able to use it to it's fullest. But I sold it and took my WAX and invested that back into the WAX blockchain.

Here we are now

Yet in 2025, I got back into HIVE and Splinterlands and everything HIVE related honestly. And I won't name names... but someone here on Hive cough cough @nozem01 cough cough created the most FOMO I had in the longest time about LAND and how awesome they were going to be and all that. So I went down a Rabbit Hole.

I did... minimal research to say the least and sent over $30 of crypto to buy Credits and bought a land. Then sent over $50 more and bought more land. Then sent over another $30 and bought even more land. And before I knew it I had 6 Plots of Land that were my own!

The "WARDEN" title that gives me a 5% boost to SPS and Glint earnings for owning 5 plots of land is awesome!

Focusing now on my Land 1.75 Strategy

When I bought my first 5 plots of land I was stoked but then was told that in Land 1.75 the Forest Plots were only going to be able to produce Wood and not Grain. When I heard that, I immediately thought "Wait what is wood? There is only Grain, SPS and Research... right?"

Not anymore! With the Land 1.75 update coming on March 18th, 2025 it is bringing with it 3 new resources.

And for me this complicates things greatly.

I have 4 Forests (1 is a Rare), 1 Plains, and 1 Jungle.

So that means I have 5 plots that can produce Wood and 1 that can produce Grain. I don't need to say this but that is NOT ideal at all. I didn't know this when I was buying land or else I would have looked at purchasing different land plots but here I am.

My struggle is and always has been lack of DEC. And now I am in a sticky situation as I have 1 Grain site that will convert to Wood and 1 SPS Mine that is not currently producing anything because it's still being built.

Now I don't know if this is true but I swear I read it somewhere that crafting new buildings will require Wood/Iron/Stone to start. I got scared.

So all of that being said here is my strategy as a lower tier land owner.

  1. Sell 1 of my Forest (Common) plots of land. I only need 5 plots at one time to keep my Warden title. So since I have 6 and 5 of them are all Wood Resource lands I need to liquidate one of them so I can purchase a Stone/Ore land.

  2. I need to start my Grain Building on my Plains land NOW before it requires more resources to build (assuming it will). So will need to come up with 5,000 DEC for the Power Node and then at least 1 card staked (which means more DEC staked) to start production.

  3. Once my Rare Forest gets converted to a Logging Camp, I will test out and see how much Wood it produces and what is costs to Harvest it. If it's worth it early on to produce Wood then I will continue. I have 8,000 Grain stockpiled so I should be good for a little while until my Grain Farm is built and up and running.

  4. Wood/Iron/Stone earn way less per Production then Grain, and since on March 18th.. there will be zero available the prices of them will be high which also means Liquidity will come into play. I do not plan to buy any of the new resources. The Production Rates are as follows:

    • Grain – 0.02 (unchanged)
    • Wood – 0.005
    • Stone – 0.002
    • Iron – 0.0005

  5. My SPS Mine will not be completed for 64 days. That means that I have time for A) the market to stabilize some for the new resources. B) That also gives me time to hopefully sell my land and buy a Iron and Stone land off secondary. But I will eventually have to buy Iron and Stone if I want to Harvest my SPS.

    🔨 But production is just the beginning—Wood, Stone, and Iron will also be required to generate SPS & Research. The consumption rates will match the production rates, meaning that when you harvest SPS or Research:

    • Every 1 base Production Point spent per hour toward production will consume
    • 0.005 Wood
    • 0.002 Stone
    • 0.0005 Iron

This Land 1.75 Update/Upgrade is very beneficial to those who had the foresight to purchase land in the various biomes. For me its going to be a struggle but that is my own fault.

Yet I am here back into Splinterlands for the long haul. So strategy is what I am going to need to compete with all these whales 😉
