My Experience playing Wax Games: A Gamer's outlook on Wax
So while deciding to give Wax Games a try, I was able to make a complete overhaul of the blockchain in about 2 nights (this is when I'm most relaxed), and surely this is not enough time to review all the Games and Dapps on Wax but it gives me the Big picture of what I need to do and my next steps going forward.
This post is gonna be really handy if you're having the same thoughts, or just wanna learn more about WAX and its gaming inner workings.
First, I'd like to say that I had a pretty lousy idea of what the Top blockchains were based on Activity, and considering my immense involvement with blockchain apps and having enough commitment to creating a website solely about Blockchain Games, Akara9Research, I was still very much in the dark. Not until reading an hive.blog post did I discover through Blocktivity with excitement that my beloved Hive Blockchain is actually standing solid at 3rd place(after overtaking TRON a few days ago now), this also made me look at Number 1, and well it was Wax Blockchain. It seemed stupid to NOT explore why everyone was crazy about Wax.
The main idea going into Wax was Games, not NFTs, Dapps, Marketplaces - those wear me out tirelessly. And boy, I wasn't disappointed, because Wax Blockchain is currently the leader in that aspect (JUST). I'm a pretty explorative person, so my idea of a go-to-chain for play2earn games should have a variety of games to explore, and trust me I'm gonna be doing that with Wax for weeks to come. On wax, you can find the following kinds of Games;
- NFTs stores calling themselves Games
- Open World RPGs
- Racing Games - Cars and NFTs Pets
- TCG Games - where can you not find that? 👀
- Space Alien Games
In fact, there are such many innovative games built onchain, looking just like normal games, so I'm highly impressed.
What's Next - Oh, How do you Play Wax Games?
Listen, if you don't take anything away from this, just remember this line -
You need Wax tokens to play Wax Games. It is the Top Priority, Literally the first investment you should make because it's a real bummer when there's a free-to-play game and you can't interact with it because you don't get Wax. LOL.
So, let me explain it pretty easy because I'm just realizing as I'm writing this section what caused me to abstain (wrong word maybe) from Wax for such a long time (remember I said I'm an explorative junkie?) - Well, I did so because I couldn't understand the CPU, RAM, NET Gibberish.
What is the CPU, RAM, NET Gibberish? In simple terms, this means that - You need a water tower (or barn) full of water (or half full), to, you know, water your seeds on a farmland.
- Watering your seeds is the Transaction,
- Seeds are the Games,
- Farmland is Wax,
- and Oh Water is Wax Tokens.
Take a moment to think about this...
On Wax though, these are represented as follows;
CPU: Think of CPU as the processor on The Wax Blockchain, CPU is the driving force for processing all transactions you would ever make on-chain, going from, buying NFTs, Selling NFTs, Listing NFTs, Staking tokens, Interacting with Games, etc. In other words, you can think of it as GAS Fees on regular Blockchains like Ethereum, Binance Smart Chain, Solana but unlike them, CPU is a resource that replenishes over time(daily).
NET: NET is a little difficult to explain simply because it's a lot like CPU. But giving it a shot, I would say NET is like bandwidth or network connectivity that sends transactions to the nodes or blocks to be processed. So it can be thought of as the first stage in transaction processing on Wax blockchain. Net is also a replenishing resource and it is very scalable as you only need to buy just a little.
RAM: RAM is well, Ram, Space, Storage, Memory, etc. It stores hefty information that you make on Wax Blockchain, for one 'I think' it stores your Account Name, Value, and Keys because every Wax Acct created has a little bit of Ram that comes along with it, to essentially store in memory, the first few important information before you start making transactions. You need this storage upgraded to continuously make transactions on Wax Blockchain and retain your user informations, this of course is in accordance with the number of transactions you make (that requires the storage of info). Easy Huh?
With all of these said - The simplest way to take care of all these resources is to hold Wax on your acct, actually, stake your wax tokens on your acct. Because when you stake Wax, you actually get to recharge these resources(CPU & NET) by claiming them every day (automatically), so essentially you never run out because there's as much transactions you can make in a day.
So staking Wax in your acct works out very well. BUT this is only the beginning of what can be said about this issue (read Wax Blockchain Feature) because there's A LOT I can say in my quest to help you (likely a beginner) to avoid the issues you are gonna run into eventually just trying to have fun on Wax. But because this post isn't specifically aimed at this, I'm gonna give it a quick brief then maybe link you up to extra articles.
CPU, NET, RAM Resource on Wax - Getting Comfortable
If your goal on Wax is to Play Games, then this brief should work plenty well for you. Let me say that, The kind of Game you are targeting to play on Wax has a BIG impact on How Many Wax you Need to Stake In CPU, NET, and Ram.
For Example; Alien Worlds is a Mining Metaverse game that requires regular interaction from players as little as every 2 mins(depending on your mining structure) & Prospectors, a Farming, Open RPG simulator Game that requires less clingy hrs of interactions as large as 3 hrs. Between the two of them, you'd need more CPU to play Alienworlds per day than Prospectors.
When you Stake Wax in CPU, your Account is allocated an amount of processing power that varies according to the current activity taking place on Wax. If there are increased transactions, your allocation of CPU decreases in the ratio of the total processing power dispensed and being used by Users with staked wax over your staked wax, and the reverse can be said if the total activity on the Wax blockchain decreases.
What works and how much Wax needs to be staked is a personal matter for every gamer, it largely depends on how you want to interact with wax Games, so I would leave that up to you.
NOTE; As opposed to making a decision for you without you testing out what works for yourself, I want to add that - In many cases, Gamers stake about 2 Wax in NET and about 5 Wax in RAM. This should be more than enough for you to transact comfortably on Wax. CPU is the resource that varies according to your Wax usage, so Good Luck.
Games on Wax
How many Games exactly are on Wax? The Solid Number I discovered is about 17. But you can scale that up slightly to about 21?, if you decide to Include Games that are 80% Dapps and 20% Games.
Out of these Games, I was only able to play about 10 of them which were running properly even if on their Alpha or Beta release, the rest were either underdeveloped or with some bugs. But don't be disappointed, because among those 10 are the biggest Blockchain Games standing on the Top 20 Leaderboard; Alien worlds, Farmers World, and Prospectors
Conclusions
And there you have it, a simple introduction to Wax Blockchain gathered from my experience with it in about two days. And yeah, let me add that, so far it has taken me more than two days to gather this juicy information because originally I planned to release this post 3 days ago, but since then I've been playing around on Wax and managed to get more detailed with the information I've shared above for you.
It has been very fun getting to see and play new games on Wax coming over from my regular Hive Games that I play, such as @risingstar and I think it should be fun for you too because Wax is full of cute, innovative Games and projects that we can all earn from. What's better than being alive in this age? ...
Hit me up if you have further questions about Wax as you begin your adventure and I hope you enjoyed reading today.

The WAX Blockchain does take some research to fully grasp and I feel like you did an excellent job explaining the resource mechanic. I've heard that some dApps on WAX are beginning to create an in-game wallet so the WAX resources aren't used thus freeing the blockchain somewhat.
On HIVE I follow @chubb149 who gives excellent advice and tells the story of his journey on WAX
and on youtube I have found KevinSmak ( https://www.youtube.com/c/kevinsmak ) to be a good source for general information regarding WAX
Thank you for sharing your experience with WAX.
Thanks for the shout out one good game I came across that nixed the WAX wallet resource problem is Galactic 123 free to play their NFTs are routed through WAX but their tokens are routed through Tron TRX. Handling everything but Crypto / NFT transfers on their own servers.

Galactic123 Game
Space & planet exploration RPG with open NFT planets customized by the NFT planet owner offering mining & combat rewards its legitimately free to play little to No WAX resources. The WAX resources thing is beyond annoying to many so your right Devs are working to fix that. Try renting 24 hours worth of WAX CPU from Cait its more effective then staking.
Cait CPU Boost
Again thank you for the shout out

Thanks for the input, 😃
wow, it would be extremely nice to see such development, I'm sure that would onboard gamers who've been discouraged with the requirements to stake Wax
Also tnx for the shoutout to @chubb149, I already started gaining from his Input on the effective way of staking Wax, extremely helpful.
