Mindfulness and Mental Focus
I think our minds follow these kinds of meaning landscapes in everything they do, they define how the energy flows. I think by developing a rich interconnected landscape of meaning for the entirety of conscious experience, ie, by calling it "samsara" and interconnecting it that way (my current strategy) that'll increase mindfulness since everything will be connected to everything else
mindfulness, recollection, is an actual mental activity that keeps something in mind, so cyclical patterns in the mind, either cyclical concepts like samsara, or literal somatic cycles like drawing pathways in the air, are a tool for mindfulness because its a loop of recollection, of keeping something in the mind, based on the laws of dependent origination
mindfulness as a mental factor might literally just be an emergent property of the way vital energy and consciousness organize themselves according to these landscapes of meaning
when we train our minds toward mindfulness we're training our minds to not scatter energy and attention away from the theme we are mindful of, and keep that theme alive by continously refreshing it and connecting other parts of experience back to it, making our landscape of meaning larger and encompassing more and more within it until we are undistractable and our mindfulness is stable.
