Congratulations! You may be the first Alien Art Hive artist to go to space willingly! hahaha Keep up the great work.

thank you! i really wanted to share it here because i figured there PROBABLY are other artists here who would love the same opportunity.
i struggled about actually coming right out and really trying to push that possibility in my post, because i'm not here to shill minting nfts on any particular blockchain, but i do think if there were a lot of interest from artists here who didn't want to mint nfts on the DeSo blockchain that the project could certainly decide to do a HIVE mission in the future too!
but definitely if there are people who would want to try to get in on it now, they could mint nfts (there are no gas fees on DeSo or anything) there. i know one of the things that would really boost artists from this community would be the high likelihood of having space-related art already made that hadn't already been sold as an nft. (having ownership of the nft still is necessary just because that would make things tricky otherwise, for instance mine is minted but i am not accepting bids on it anytime soon if i ever do)
i also plan to create a new version of my NFT after the mission, i should have mentioned it in the post (or maybe i did?) - but showing what happens to my NFT after being struck by the ~mysterious cosmic rays~ :D
I think within this Alien Art Hive community there are many NFT artists. On Chain Art is another community with a loft of NFT creators. I don't know if you are on with NFT Showroom yet, which is built on Hive, but you should be! I think that you could cross-post to the On Chain Art community to get more exposure to the project. I usually don't tell in advance, but your post has been curated and will be featured in the next community post here in AAH.
I haven't checked out DeSo for minting yet. Now that you mention it doesn't have gas fees i definitely should. I was a launch partner with Makers Place on Ethereum... but i never do anything there because of gas fees. Back when the beta testing and launch happened they used to cover the gas fees for the artists. It's blown up a lot since then... so i don't blame them for not doing it anymore.
Thanks for sharing this here in our community and i do hope some others take the opportunity to get 'onboard'... pun intended. I'm going to have to look more into it for myself.
i think what these blockchains with little to no fees (and to be clear- i say deso has no fees, i guess it's better to call them infinitesimal, there ARE fees but out of almost 8000 transactions so far, i've paid $0.00 so far -some ridiculously small fraction of a cent that doesn't round up to a cent)-
anyway sorry, what these blockchains with negligible fees shows is that you can think of nfts totally differently. i personally think most nfts are silly. but i make my nfts to just be considered like a tip, but a tip that in turn gives the person something that i put at least a few hours into making.
so there's no real worry about if what you create "fits the perceived definitiion of what an nft is". if someone made a cool piece of art that has a space or alien theme, and they haven't minted it as an nft elsewhere, they could go submit the art to the project and if they get whitelisted, then they can mint it on deso. i really really shy away from coming across like i'm shilling another place here, though i feel like i owe it back now because i actually promote the heck out of hive over on deso- but on deso literally all you have to do is make a post that includes your image, then click a link next to the post that creates an NFT from that post. it's literally like 2-3 clicks and that's it.
there's a lot of things hive does WAY WAY WAY better than deso, but i really think it's probably way easier to mint an nft on deso than anywhere else. (NOW- you might ask yourself, WHAT IS AN NFT? and then ahahaha welcome to hell as you wonder wtf has actually been created i mean shit it's CALLED an nft right? so it's an nft yeah? who the hell knows? it can't be changed, so it's like non-fungible yeah? and it's on a blockchain, so like, i guess it's inherently a token or something.. ahaha WHO KNOWS all i know is gettin dat artwork into space yo!!!!!)
