WWE Raw Recap: February 17, 2025
Hey Hive community! Let's dive into the latest episode of WWE Raw from February 17, 2025. It was a night packed with high-octane action, unexpected twists, and some serious build-up towards the upcoming Elimination Chamber. Here's the lowdown:
AJ Styles vs. Dominik Mysterio
The Phenomenal One, AJ Styles, squared off against the ever-controversial "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio. Styles showcased his veteran prowess, delivering a masterclass in technique and resilience. Despite interference attempts by Carlito, Styles maintained his composure, ultimately sealing the deal with a decisive Styles Clash. Post-match, Intercontinental Champion Bron Breakker stormed the ring, aiming for Styles but accidentally spearing Mysterio instead. Styles capitalized on the chaos, sending Breakker packing. Talk about a rollercoaster! Source
AJ Styles vs. Dominik Mysterio ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4/5)
Why?
This was a solid opener with a mix of technical wrestling, interference drama, and some post-match chaos that set up future feuds. Styles looked great as usual, carrying Dominik through a competitive match. The interference from Carlito and Bron Breakker added a layer of unpredictability.
What we’re looking forward to:
- How will Breakker respond after accidentally spearing Dom?
- Will this lead to a Styles vs. Breakker match at Elimination Chamber?
What could have been better?
- Dom could have looked stronger with some underhanded tactics instead of taking a clean Styles Clash.
- The match length felt a little short for an opener.
Dakota Kai vs. Ivy Nile: No. 1 Contender's Match
In a fierce battle to determine the next challenger for the Women's Intercontinental Championship, Dakota Kai faced off against Ivy Nile. Both competitors brought their A-game, but it was Kai's cunning and experience that earned her the victory with the GTK. Post-match, current champion Lyra Valkyria made her presence known, setting the stage for an electrifying title showdown. Source
Dakota Kai vs. Ivy Nile (No. 1 Contender’s Match) ⭐️⭐️⭐️½ (3.5/5)
Why?
Both women delivered a hard-hitting match, but it lacked big standout moments. Dakota Kai winning was expected, but Ivy Nile continues to prove she’s got main event potential.
What we’re looking forward to:
- Dakota Kai vs. Lyra Valkyria should be an excellent match.
- Will Ivy Nile get a second chance down the line?
What could have been better?
- A longer, more dramatic closing sequence to make Nile’s loss feel more impactful.
- More near-falls to make the stakes feel higher.
Gunther and Jey Uso's Heated Confrontation
World Heavyweight Champion Gunther took to the crowd, mocking Jey Uso's signature entrance and questioning his WrestleMania aspirations. The tension escalated rapidly, culminating in a wild brawl between the two. Security had their hands full trying to separate the enraged superstars. This rivalry is reaching a boiling point, and we can't wait to see what happens next! Source
Gunther and Jey Uso's Heated Confrontation ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5)
Why?
This was pure money. Gunther mocking Jey’s entrance was hilarious, but the promo battle turned heated FAST. Jey’s passion shined through, and Gunther, as always, was a dominant presence. The brawl that followed made this feel like a real blood feud.
What we’re looking forward to:
- A potential WrestleMania showdown between these two.
- Gunther’s future as champion—can he be stopped?
What could have been better?
- Honestly, nothing. This was a great segment that made the title feel important.
Penta vs. Pete Dunne
Penta and Pete Dunne delivered a hard-hitting contest that had the WWE Universe on the edge of their seats. The match took a turn when Ludwig Kaiser attempted to interfere, leading to a distraction that allowed Penta to capitalize and secure the win with the Penta Driver. Post-match, tensions flared as Kaiser and Dunne engaged in a heated exchange, only for Penta to soar over the ropes, taking out both men. High-flying action at its finest! Source
Penta vs. Pete Dunne ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4/5)
Why?
This was a hard-hitting and fast-paced match that gave both men time to shine. Ludwig Kaiser’s interference made sense storyline-wise, but it did take away from a clean finish. Still, Penta got a big win, and the post-match chaos kept the energy high.
What we’re looking forward to:
- Pete Dunne vs. Kaiser? Yes, please!
- Penta continuing to climb the ladder in WWE.
What could have been better?
- A little more time for both guys to showcase their full movesets.
- A clean win for either man rather than a distraction finish.
Roxanne Perez vs. Raquel Rodriguez: Elimination Chamber Qualifier
The stakes were sky-high as Roxanne Perez battled Raquel Rodriguez for a coveted spot in the Women's Elimination Chamber match. The match was intense, with both athletes showcasing their incredible skills. The turning point came when Women's Tag Team Champions Bianca Belair and Naomi intervened, targeting Liv Morgan at ringside. This distraction allowed Perez to roll up Rodriguez for the win, punching her ticket to the Elimination Chamber. The road to WrestleMania just got even more exciting! Source
Roxanne Perez vs. Raquel Rodriguez (Elimination Chamber Qualifier) ⭐️⭐️⭐️ (3/5)
Why?
A good match but felt overshadowed by the outside interference. Bianca Belair and Naomi’s presence led to more drama than action. Roxanne winning was a great choice, but the way it happened felt a little cheap.
What we’re looking forward to:
- Roxanne getting a spotlight in the Chamber match.
- Possible tag-team tensions brewing between Naomi and Belair.
What could have been better?
- A clean win for Perez to make her look stronger.
- More actual wrestling instead of ringside distractions.
Seth Rollins vs. Finn Bálor: Elimination Chamber Qualifier
In the main event, longtime rivals Seth "Freakin" Rollins and Finn Bálor clashed for the final spot in the Men's Elimination Chamber match. The bout was everything fans hoped for, filled with high spots, near falls, and technical brilliance. In the end, Rollins countered Bálor's offense, delivering a decisive Stomp to secure his place in the Chamber. The Visionary's road to WrestleMania continues! Source
Seth Rollins vs. Finn Bálor (Elimination Chamber Qualifier) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️½ (4.5/5)
Why?
You can’t go wrong with these two. They have history, they have chemistry, and they absolutely tore it up in the main event. Rollins winning makes sense as he’s a big name heading into Mania season, but Bálor didn’t look weak in defeat.
What we’re looking forward to:
- Rollins in the Elimination Chamber—will he win?
- What’s next for Bálor? Will he get another shot?
What could have been better?
- A little more story progression for Bálor post-match.
- The crowd seemed a little burned out by this point—maybe a match swap earlier in the show would have helped.
