RE: A sad realization about Splinterlands Hive Resource Extraction :(

I love your comment, I think all the points you made are fantastic and I appreciate your upvote 2 cents, 10 cents, any amount it always appreciated!
I will only reply to the final part, with my thoughts on the matter:
"As far as Splinterlands Art contest I see both of your points yes there is clear extraction going on, the question is if the art that is being created for this contests is worth for Splinterlands to pay these artists from South America?"
Splinterlands Created a Contest with "Guidelines". People from all over can and should compete!
The second part of the question is tough to answer because it is very subjective:
"Is the art being created worth it for Splinterlands to 'pay' these artists"
Not sure... not sure why we have the Art Contests... I like them. I think the art generated by the artists is top tier!
But we don't really have a place that I know of to display said art... and I am not sure what we are doing with said art once it is generated...
Because I don't know the why and the what there... it is impossible for me to say if it is or isn't worth paying those artists... especially since they don't play the game or stake any Hive :(
Small correction. Splinterlands is not paying; all hive stakeholders cumulatively paying them from the common reward pool. That includes you, me and Splinterlands. As we are all hive stakeholders.
True :) I was thinking in terms of Splinterlands deciding to use their substantial stake to hold the contests and to curate posts that participate in these contests. But you are right, we all pay for it from the common reward pool.
Thank you. Just to be clear I didn't mean to single out people from South America, I just wrote that because based of your research it seemed like that is mostly the case. And yes, people all over can and should participate in these contests.
Everyone has a different but valid reasons for participating, some are trying to build their HIVE stake like you and I and some are trying to make their monthly bill payments. I don't have judgement, but it would be nice and healthy for the HIVE ecosystem if it wasn't just a pure extraction if they would leave at least some part of author rewards and build their stake, even 25% left from every post would have been better than pure extraction.
The contests are a good promotional idea, but they could be tweaked a bit to be more efficient. I think I will write a Splinterlands post on it with some constructive ideas :)
And I think your comment is very thoughtful @topcomment
