Helpful Tips for the New-ish Hive User to help maximize your Vote Income!
Hey Splinterfriends!
With Bitcoin pushing All Time Highs and Splinterlands doing marketing on various platforms I am willing to bet there will be an influx of both new players and new Hive members!
For those of you making your way to Hive, some of you are going to snag a chunk of Hive, stake it into Hive Power and want to start earning Hive Rewards using the various methods I will highlight.
It is fairly simple to do it but I am going to walk you through it and while I will touch on the ways in which you can earn, I am going to dive into the way to ensure you consistently use your Votes and both Give and Earn Hive Rewards without missing any!
There are a multitude of ways to earn on Hive and here are a few:
[1.] Stake Hive - this is what people mean when they are talking about Hive Power or HP.
This is also what people mean by "Power Up" - it means the same thing as "Stake" or "Lock" your Hive in your wallet and the unstaking process takes 13 weeks - this helps stabilize price and mitigates price manipulation.
By staking Hive you will accomplish two things
A. You will earn Hive as "Interest" on your Staked Hive Power
B. When you Upvote a Post or Comment, you will "nominate" them to receive part of the Hive Reward Pool for that day based on the relative % of your Hive Power compared to Total Hive Power - this sounds confusing but it isn't, long story short... More staked Hive = Bigger Upvotes!
[2.] Upvoting! Yes - when you Upvote other peoples Posts/Comments, you both EARN Rewards... You're not "giving" them some of your Hive... you're telling the Reward Pool to "Reward This Content" - the incentive for Upvoting is YOU get Rewarded too!
After 7 Days, when the payout for that Post/Comment happens the Rewards are paid out with the Author getting 50% and the Upvoters getting 50%...
Example: Let's say you have enough Hive Power (Staked Hive) for a $.10 Upvote.
When you Upvote something, when the payout happens - they earn $.05 from your Upvote and you earn $.05!!
[3.] Creating content - this is a LOT harder than it sounds... It may sound easy and most people (myself included) will think something like:
Maybe... but Hive is not easy to generate a lot of income on via Content Creation unless you're really making some crazy good stuff - and being VERY CONSISTENT!!
[4.] Interacting with others - Hive is a SOCIAL Platform... and it is designed to encourage interacting with others via Comments, Replies, etc
[5.] Curating Stuff - I gotta be honest, I don't really know much about this but it is technically one of the ways to earn on Hive...
[6.] Contests! Many projects, like Splinterlands will offer Contests and offer Hive Votes as a Reward... These Votes come from People and Companies with Millions of Hive Power... This means you might earn $5, $10, $20 with a single vote!!

These are easy to enter, have step by step instructions to help you earn Hive via Upvotes and will definitely be a big boost towards helping you increase your Hive Power!
Here's where things get tricky... Life.
Most of us, 99% of us I am willing to bet... have a Life, Job(s), obligations etc...
Which means, we won't be on Hive 24/7... so we won't be able to Upvote things we like every day and if we don't USE our Upvotes... we lose out on the potential for that day...
Before you just yeet your self into oblivion and Upvote EVERYTHING you see
Let's take a look at how Hive prevents Upvote abuse!
As you might be thinking - "All I have to do is Upvote things... and I earn Hive?!?! I'll just Upvote EVERYTHING!!"
Well... yeah... except the creators of Hive figured this would be a BAD THING and you have a certain amount of Upvoting you can do in a given 24 Hour Period... this Automatically Regens so don't worry if you blow it all the first day lol
To give you a rough idea - your account will regenerate about 20 Upvotes per day, at 100% Upvote Power...
This means you can go Upvote TWENTY things - Posts, Comments, Replies, etc... wait 24 hours and BOOM - you're at 100% Power again!
Where is this info - that would be a good thing to know... so let's take a look!
On Peak'd, you can see your dropdown menu on the Top Right of the Screen and if you hover your mouse over it, you will see a Blue and Red bar... as you can see from my Blue bar, it's not 100% full... this means I have used some of my Upvote Power for the day - that's the Time Limited amount of Upvotes used to prevent SPAM!
If you click your dropdown menu, you'll have a bit more info:
You can see the Blue Arrow (Upvote) is 86.36% and the Red Arrow (Downvote) is 100% - downvotes should be used VERY SPARINGLY and will have negative effects on peoples Accounts - the greater your Hive Power, the greater the effect...
The Green Energy is "Resource Credits" and allow you to do things like Hive Transactions, Splinterlands Transactions, Trades & Swaps on Hive Engine or Tribaldex - this is an automatic bonus to Powering Up Hive!
To get even MORE detailed info on your Hive Power, Account Info and more, you can click the Dropdown arrow like before... then click on Wallet:
This will take you here and yes - there is a lot of data...
I've deleted a few things but this shows you any Rewards you can Claim, your Hive, Staked Hive, Delegated Hive (another great way to earn) and Hive Savings...
If you keep scrolling down there is WAY more info but we don't need to go that far, yet...
Finally - if you click on Dashboard, which is right below Wallet on the Dropdown... you can see just how much each Vote of yours is "worth"...
So... looping back to before... if we can do about 20 "Max Upvotes" per day... and if we aren't going to be online 24/7...
Yup - Hive.Vote is a system designed to help you ensure you are Upvoting Content you like and if you aren't around to do it manually - WHICH YOU SHOULD...
It will Upvote accounts and content you select on your behalf - AUTOMATICALLY!
This site is not intended to REPLACE your interactions on Hive... it is intended to supplement your Upvote activity since you are in fact Human and won't be here 24/7!
To use it - simply type in hive.vote into your browser, use Hivesigner to log in and read the relatively basic instructions...
That's it - this will guarantee that you will MAXIMIZE your Hive Vote Earnings if you are unable to do it yourself :)
