Calamity Approaches: The Monster That Might Rewrite The Meta On Splinterlands

Hello Splinter nerds

The new conflict card is the most anticipated out of the 3 that have been revealed, this is because of its ability. The first time I saw it, I was eager for the second conflict to end so we could jump to its season, and here we are now, with less than 16 days until it's airdropped.

What make this card so special

The name of this card is Calamity, a legendary dragon card with 5 outstanding abilities, and what makes this more unique is that the card is only a 4 mana monster with 10 health base, with a decent speed of 4 and 3 magic attack, so even without the additional abilities, this card is good..!

Let us talk about the use case of its abilities.

  • Shapeshift: Treated as all bloodlines, which means this monster would benefit from every bloodline tribute.

  • Electrified: Deals 1 damage to all allied Units at the beginning of each round. I used to see this ability as a weakness until I realized I could use it with monsters that have the Painforge ability. This ability is also beneficial in enraging and boosting the stats of specific monsters.

  • Life Leech: Increases health and max health by 50% of damage dealt. This ability makes Calamity more powerful; it won't die easily due to the increase in health. Being a magic monster makes this better, as we have fewer monsters with the magic reflect ability in modern format, so less risk!

  • Expose80% chance to remove Forcefield, Lookout, Deflect, Shield, Void, Void Armor, or Immunity after a successful attack. Expose will always remove Immunity first. This is another ability not so common that players love; it weakens monsters that are hit and makes them vulnerable.

  • Last Stand+50% to all stats and current health (rounded up) if no other allied units remain on the team. This is an ability introduced during the Untamed edition, and if I do not remember others, I still remember how the ability made Kron one of the most sought-after cards.

Honestly, Calamity was carefully designed and is the best I have seen so far out of the 3 conflict cards that have been revealed. The designer took time to create the card, and I won't be surprised if it is being spammed after its release.

Some formation where Calamity will shine

Bloodline tribute: Most players are familiar with the bloodline tribute strategy, which is commonly used with the life splinter monster. Instead of using Bella Ratajowlski summoner, use a dragon summoner to summon the life team and substitute one of the bloodline monsters for Calamity, and see how it plays out. It is not just the life splinter that has a monster with the bloodline tribute, so it can be tried with other splinters too. I am definitely trying this when the monster is playable.

Little League rule: This is a rule in which only 4 mana monsters or lower can be used. Calamity will shine in this battle, as long as there is a dragon splinter to summon it.

Low mana cap battle: The last stand ability gives calamity a big advantage in 12 and 13 mana battles. I can just use a suitable legendary summoner to summon it and see the wonder it will perform.

Calamity is definitely going to be a game-changer when it arrives.

The suspense and atmosphere you created kept me hooked, and I could really picture the looming sense of calamity.
