New Cards & Legendary Highlights: Dire Bear/Giam Root Takes Advantage in the Frontier Format! - Social Media Challenge [Eng/Esp]
Greetings, Splinterlands friends! Welcome to my social media challenge. I've been updating this entry throughout the week because while I was ranking in Frontiers, I came across an opponent who was using a completely new card. It was a death card, and it caught my attention because it was Moros Malik, one of the tutors in the campaign mode! Not only that, but the cute little bear also appeared. He's your first combatant at the beginning of your adventure. It turns out his name is Deri Bear.

Bienvenido a mi social media challenge, esta participación la he ido actualizando a lo largo de la semana ya que mientras estaba rankeando en Frontiers me topé con un contrincante que estaba usando una carta completamente nueva, era de muerte y me llamo mucho la atención porque era Moros Malik uno de los tutores en el modo campaña! Y no solo eso, también apareció el Osito tierno que es tu primer combatiente al comenzar tu aventura, resulta que se llama Deri Bear.

Deri Bear & Moros Malik
My first thought was that they had enabled new missions in the campaign mode to obtain these cards, and indeed, new cards were appearing to acquire, so I got to work obtaining them and immediately testing them in combat.
Lo primero que pensé fue que habían habilitado nuevas misiones en el modo campaña para conseguir estas cartas y en efecto aparecían nuevas cartas por adquirir, así que me puse manos a la obra para obtenerlas y probarlas inmediatamente en combate.
Although I knew they were Soulbound, I wanted to test them and share them on this Social, but unfortunately, there was a bug in the first quest, the Dire Bear. Even after completing it, you don't get the card. You should review this detail, as it caused me confusion when I went to ranked, and I couldn't find them anywhere.
Aunque sabía que eran soulbound quise ponerlas a prueba y compartirlas en este Social pero lamentablemente no te que había un error en la primera quest que es la del Deri Bear, aunque la completas no te dan la carta, deberían revisar ese detalle ya que me causó confusión al momento de ir al ranked no las encontraba en ninguna parte.

In the end, I had to buy Deri Bear on the card market since I couldn't get it in campaign mode, so I decided to do this social media challenge focusing on Deri Bear and the last card I got in the Foundations packs: Giam Root, also a golden one, a real gem, although nowadays it's devaluing as quickly as butter in a hot frying pan. But let's see what these two earth splinter cards are capable of.
Al final tuve que comprar a Deri Bear en el mercado de cartas ya que no hubo manera de conseguirla en el modo campaña y decidí entonces realizar este social media challenge enfocándome en Deri Bear y la última carta que conseguí en los packs Foundations: Giam Root y además dorada, toda una joya aunque al día de hoy se esta devaluando tan rápido como mantequilla en una sartén caliente. Pero veamos de que son capaces estas 2 cartas del splinter de tierra.
Dire Bear
Well, as I mentioned before, even though I completed the mission in campaign mode, I didn't get this amazing card, so I had to go to the market to buy it. This card even appears without stats on Peakmonster, which highlights the recent appearance of these cards on the market. When I bought it, I did so at a price of $0.05, but at the time of writing this post, it's dropped to $0.035, so it's only a matter of time before we see this common card at a price of around $0.01, but let's see what properties this card has.
Bien como mencioné antes, aunque hice la misión en el modo campaña no me dieron esta genial carta así que tuve que ir al mercado para comprarla, en peakmonster esta carta incluso aparece sin las estadísticas lo que destaca la reciente aparición de estas cartas en el mercado. Cuando la compre lo hice a un precio de 0,05$ pero al momento de hacer este post ha bajado a un precio de 0,035$ por lo que es cuestión de tiempo ver a esta carta común a un precio sobre los 0,01$ pero veamos que propiedades tiene esta carta.
Advantages/Ventajas
1. Excellent stats for a Level 1 Common card/Excelentes estadísticas para una carta común lvl 1
Few common cards deal 2 damage from the first level, making Dire Bear an important addition to the ground splinter's melee units. Added to that, it has very good speed, which ensures we'll be the first to attack. Finally, its enormous health makes it a true frontline tank. I don't think it can outperform Dread Tafarian and its healing ability, but with rulesets like maneuvers, super sneak, and equal opportunity, this unit is an important addition.
Son pocas las cartas comunes que desde el 1er nivel hagan 2 de daño lo que convierte a Dire Bear en una importante incorporación a las unidades melé del splinter de tierra. Sumado a eso tiene una muy buena velocidad lo que nos asegura que seremos los primeros en atacar y finalmente destacar la enorme cantidad de vida que tiene lo convierte en un verdadero tanque de primera línea. No creo que supere a Dread Tafarian y su capacidad para sanarse pero con rulesets como maneuvers, super sneak y equal oportunity esta unidad es una importante incorporación.
Disadvantages/Desventajas
1. High mana cost/Alto costo de mana
The downside of this card is its high mana cost: 10! Being the only card with this high resource cost, it's difficult to use in battles with mana levels between 20 and 29. If you use this card in other formats, such as wild, you should consider that this card is susceptible to receiving 2x damage if it faces a unit with the Giant Killer ability.
El lado negativo de esta carta es su alto coste de mana: 10! Siendo la única carta con este coste tan alto de recursos se hace difícil usarlo en batallas que están entre 20-29 de mana y si usas esta carta en otros formatos como wild debes considerar que esta carta es susceptible a recibir un daño multiplicado X2 si se enfrenta a una unidad con la habilidad giant killer.
Battle/Batalla
We tested this card not in Frontier, but in Modern, where I have greater opportunities to test its potential. We can only use earth and death splinters, with a mana limit of 34 it is a critical amount to use Dire Bear but we will optimize the use of available mana by using a bi-elemental archon, although this archon certainly does not offer modifiers and we cannot use the life class, its cost is 3 mana so we have 31 mana to place monsters on the battlefield.
Pusimos a prueba entonces esta carta no en Frontier, sino en Modern donde tengo mayores opciones para probar el potencial de esta carta. Solo podemos usar los splinter de tierra y muerte, con un límite de mana de 34 es una cantidad crítica para usar a Dire Bear pero optimizaremos el uso de mana disponible usando un arconte bi elemental, aunque ciertamente este arconte no ofrece modificadores y no podemos usar la clase vida, su coste es de 3 de mana por lo que tenemos 31 de mana para ubicar monstruos en el campo de batalla.

⚔️Rounds 1 - 2
We begin the first round by mercilessly attacking the enemy's second row. We use Ulundin Overseer as the main tank, but also for his flank ability, which allows our Dire Bear card to attack from the second position. In the second round, the already weakened Sorrow Harvester is eliminated by Thanalorian Blade, and Halaran Huntress has significantly weakened Nim Guard Captain for the second round.
Empezamos el primer round atacando sin piedad la segunda fila enemiga, usamos a Ulundin Overseer como tanque principal pero también por su habilidad flank que le permite a nuestra carta Dire Bear atacar desde la segunda posición. En el segundo round ya debilitado el Sorrow Harvester es eliminado por Thanalorian Blade y ya Halaran Huntress ha debilitado significativamente a Nim Guard Captain para el segundo round.
⚔️Rounds 3 - 5
In the third round, Nim Guard Captain is the first to fall, and in the fourth round, Dire Bear takes care of eliminating Black Widow, leaving only Little Sister to face the storm. Although she can steal life, it is insufficient to stop the inevitable, and she is eliminated by Thanalorian Blade. In the end, it was an impeccable battle because we did not lose any units. As I said before, Dire Bear is not very convenient to use in battles with less than 30 mana; above that, it is possible to put together an effective lineup. Next battle!
En el tercer round Nim Guard Captain es el primero en caer y para el 4to round Dire Bear se encarga de eliminar a Black Widow para dejar únicamente a Little Sister afrontando la tormenta y aunque puede robar vida es insuficiente para detener lo inevitable y es eliminada por Thanalorian Blade. Al final fue una batalla impecable porque no perdimos ninguna unidad, como dije antes Dire Bear es poco conveniente usarlo en batallas menores a 30 de mana, por encima de eso es posible armar una alineación efectiva. Próxima batalla!
Giam Root
You can't imagine, my friends, how I was waiting to get this exceptional card! Several weeks went by without getting the ground legendary, and I was frustrated since the meta is making it clear that the ground splinter is one of the most powerful in Frontier. I was so desperate that I almost bought it on the market, but I decided to wait, and as fate would have it, the last legendary I was missing was golden! Currently this card has already depreciated quite a bit, going from $10 to $2.50 and considering that its gold version is maxed out for Frontiers I think it's at a very good price.
No se imaginan amigos como estaba esperando conseguir esta excepcional carta! Pasaron varias semanas sin conseguir la legendaria de tierra y me tenía frustrado ya que el meta esta dejando claro que el splinter de tierra es uno de los más poderosos en Frontier. Estaba tan desesperado que casi la compro en el mercado pero decidí esperar y quiso el destino que la última legendaria que me faltaba fuera dorada! Actualmente esta carta ya se ha depreciado bastante, de 10$ pasó a 2,5$ y considerando que su versión dorada esta maxeada para Frontiers considero que esta a muy buen precio.
Advantages/Ventajas
1. High HP & speed/Gran cantidad de vida y velocidad
The main advantage this card has is its enormous amount of life, which is very useful for certain rulesets, such as Noxiuos Fumes, Global Warming, or Collateral Damage, which are literally turn-based battles. This card becomes a true damage sponge and can ultimately grant you victory through fatigue. Another advantage is its great speed, as it has 3 speeds. Finally, its damage output is notable, but I won't go into that aspect since my Archon is at level 2, so I can only use Gim Root at level 1.
La principal ventaja que tiene esta carta es su enorme cantidad de vida que para ciertas rulesets es muy conveniente como Noxiuos Fumes, Global Warming o Collateral Damage que son enfrentamientos literalmente de aguante por cada turno, esta carta se convierte en una verdadera esponja de daño y que en última instancia puede otorgarte la victoria por fatiga. Lo otro es su gran velocidad pues tiene 3, por último está el daño que es destacable pero que no tocaré ese aspecto pues tengo mi arconte en lvl 2 así que solo puedo aprovechar Gim Root en nivel 1.
2. Strengthen Ability/Habilidad Strengthen
Strengthen
The second major advantage of this card is its Strengthen ability, which adds 1 maximum health point to all allied units. This means that once in battle, Gim Root can increase its maximum health to 12! a true bulwark to protect ranged/magic units from abilities like Snipe.
La segunda gran ventaja de esta carta es su habilidad Strengthen que suma 1 punto de vida máxima a todas las unidades aliadas, esto significa que una vez en batalla, Gim Root puede aumentar su vida máxima hasta 12! un verdadero muro de contención para proteger unidades rango/mágicas de habilidades como Snipe.
Disadvantages/Desventajas
High mana cost/Alto costo de mana
Now, the only downside to this card is its high mana cost. My recommendation is to use it in battles with a mana cap of over 34. Below that value, it's inconvenient to use, as you'll run out of room to fit more cards into your lineup. Still, I think its mana cost is fine for its stats, and the best part is that, unlike Dire Bear, it doesn't reach 10 mana, so it's safe from units with the Giant Killer ability.
Ahora bien, la única desventaja de esta carta es su alto costo de mana, mi recomendación es usarlo en batallas con un límite de mana sobre los 34 puntos. Por debajo de ese valor es poco conveniente de usar ya que te quedarás sin margen para ubicar más cartas en tu alineación. Aún así considero que su coste de mana esta bien para sus estadística y lo mejor es que esta a diferencia de Dire Bear no llega a 10 de mana así que esta a salvo de unidades con la habilidad Giant Killer.
Battle/Batalla
I knew perfectly well that with these rulesets: Weak Shield and True Strike, my opponent would use the Water Splinter, so this is the best time to show you the potential of this splinter in the meta. We naturally used Aurelia as an Archon, which also gives us the advantage of adding an extra health point to our team. This means Gim Root would rise to 13 health points. We placed him in the third position to protect our ranged units in the back positions.
Sabía perfectamente que con estas rulesets: weak shield y true strike, mi oponente utilizaría el splinter de agua, así que este es el mejor momento para demostrarte el potencial de este splinter en el meta. Usamos por supuesto a Aurelia como arconte que además nos da la ventaja de sumar un punto de vida más a nuestro equipo, eso significa que Gim Root ascender a a los 13 puntos de vida, lo ubicamos en la tercera posición para proteger a nuestras unidades rango en las últimas posiciones.

⚔️Rounds 1 - 2
Knowing that the opponent has the initiative in the attack, we lured them all in with a decoy. This allowed us to take out the enemy tank. In the second round, although we lost the decoy with taunt, we also managed to dispatch the Great Bear Druid and weakened the Lunaki Howler in the final turns.
Sabiendo que el oponente tiene la iniciativa en el ataque los atrajimos todos con un señuelo, esto nos permitió acaban con el tanque enemigo y para el segundo round aunque perdimos el señuelo con taunt también logramos despachar al Great Bear Druid y debilitamos en los últimos turnos al Lunaki Howler.
⚔️Rouns 3 - 5
In the third round, we lost our tank after receiving a heavy barrage of magical attacks, but we managed to eliminate Lunaki Howler and Logger-Water Wizzard in the process, leaving our opponent with the last two cards, which are also the strongest in their lineup. In the fourth round, our provisional tank, Mad Gearhead, survived the combined attack of Saltwater Mage and Mystic Scaleweaver to exact revenge with our Kicking Roc, leaving only the Mystic Scaleweaver in the battle. The latter managed to eliminate our Mad Gearhead, but was no longer able to do anything against the imposing Gim Root and was ultimately eliminated by the combined attack of Kicking Roc and Wilhelmdale Deputy to secure the victory.
En el 3er round perdimos a nuestro tanque después de recibir una fuerte descarga de ataques mágicos pero logramos eliminar en el proceso a Lunaki Howler y a Logger-Water Wizzard dejando a nuestro oponente con las últimas 2 cartas que también son las más fuertes de su alineación. En el 4to Round nuestro tanque provisional Mad Gearhead sobrevive al ataque combinado de Saltwater Mage y Mystic Scaleweaver para cobrar venganza con nuestro Kicking Roc y solo dejar al Mystic Scaleweaver en la batalla, que logra eliminar a nuestro Mad Gearhead pero ya no puede hacer nada frente al imponente Gim Root y termina siendo eliminado por el ataque combinado de Kicking Roc y Wilhelmdale Deputy para asegurar la victoria.
So, friends, with Gim Root I finally conclude all the legendary Foundations card reviews, and what a way to close it out with the legendary I've been looking for, and in gold! I have no doubt that the land splinter is the strongest in this format, and with the new common card Dire Bear that we're adding to our deck, I'm sure we'll go even further in Frontiers and Modern. We just need to level up our archon to fully exploit the potential of these cards. I hope to quickly upgrade Dire Bear to achieve even better results. En definitiva amigos, con Gim Root termino definitivamente todas las reseñas de cartas Foundations legendarias y vaya forma de cerrarla con la legendaria que tanto estaba buscando y dorada! No me queda duda que el splinter de tierra es el más fuerte en este formato y con la nueva carta comun Dire Bear que sumamos a nuestro mazo estoy seguro que llegaremos aún más lejos en Frontiers y Modern. Solo nos falta subir de nivel nuestro arconte para terminar de explotar todo el potencial de estas cartas, espero poder upgradear rápidamente a Dire Bear para lograr mejores resultados.
