Scraping Brawl Wins in the New Modern Frays

Guild Brawls have always featured Modern Frays where you have to use more recently released Card Sets instead of the old cards you bought years ago. The game developers obviously do this to try to add value to the more recent card releases and keep people investing in the game. However, for players like me (who have already invested a lot) I'm not that keen on trying to build entirely new card sets to play with. That said, my Guild (like many others no doubt) is currently struggling to find the best way to manage the most recent change to the Modern Brawl Frays which no longer allow the cheap and abundant Chaos Legion cards to be used...

At first our guild took a "Placeholder" approach where we would just put a member in the fray, knowing that they couldn't submit teams. However, just by "showing up" we might be able to still get a couple of wins from other guilds who left the fray empty. All guilds are in the same boat and facing the same challenge so as long as the playing field is level then it's fair, right? Well, I decided to go one tiny step further.

I decided to rent some cheap Level 1 Archons from the newer Rebellion card set so that I could actually submit a legal (albeit weak) lineup to the fray battles. I'm not talking about a competitive team because the fray I was tasked with was Gold level. I'm talking about a level 1 Archon with maybe a Reward card or 2 and a Gladius thrown in.

To my surprise I actually won a couple of battles outright in my first brawl, but because I could submit a team I got a lot of wins from the enemies who were assigned to the fray yet did not submit. They were registered as "Flees" from the battlefield. In my second brawl I lost 2 battles but ended with a record of 7 Wins 2 Losses as 4 enemies fled and 3 other guilds had no-one assigned to the fray. I had rented these cheap Archons for 11 days so I'll get a third brawl out of them in a couple of days.

How much did this cost? A pittance. I rented 4 x Level 1 Archons at 1 DEC per day for 11 days. That's 44 DEC. Under 5 cents US to rent for 3 Brawls! Considering how much you get from winning a brawl, or even how much we can earn from writing a post like this it's a bit of a no brainer. If you're not sure what to do with your Modern Frays in the next Brawl, just rent some nuffy Archons on the cheap so that you can submit. It's worth it just to scrape a few extra wins for your team.
