Blackjack in Stakehouse Den offers players a familiar yet polished take on the classic card game, reimagined in a digital format where you take on a computer dealer rather than live opponents. The goal remains simple: get as close to 21 as possible without going over, and beat the dealer doing the same.

• Core Mechanics

• Card Values
  Numbered cards (2 through 10) carry their face value. Face cards (Jack, Queen, King) count as 10. The Ace is flexible—it can be either 1 or 11, whichever helps your hand more.

• Initial Deal & Blackjack
  You and the dealer each get two cards initially. Yours are visible; the dealer has one face-up (“upcard”) and one face-down (“hole card”). If you or the dealer get an Ace + a ten-point card right away (i.e. a “blackjack”), that hand usually wins automatically—unless both get it, in which case it’s a “push” (tie).

• Player Options
  During your turn, you have the usual menu of actions:

• • Hit – take another card, trying to improve your total without busting.
• • Stand – keep your hand as is.

Double Down – double your initial bet and receive exactly one extra card.

• • Split – if your initial two cards are of equal value, you can split them into two separate hands, placing a second bet. Then you play each hand independently.

• Dealer Rules
  After the player’s turn ends, the dealer reveals the hole card and must play by strict rules: hitting until the hand reaches at least 17. Typically, the dealer also stands on a “soft 17” (that’s when the total is 17 including an Ace being counted as 11) unless otherwise noted.

Payouts & Outcomes

• Wins pay out at 1:1.

• A natural blackjack (Ace + ten-value card) pays more generously—typically 3:2.

• If your hand ties with the dealer’s (a “push”), you get your bet back.
