MoonKarts Orbital Leaderboards: Get To Know

As the new season is approaching and it seems like the player base is continuously growing, I thought of making this post to explain more about what Orbital Leaderboards is all about and how it is being computed. In Arcade Colony’s MoonKarts, the Orbital Leaderboards are the crown jewel of competitive racing—offering players the chance to test their speed, strategy, and gear against the best across the Hive blockchain. Separate from the traditional Ranked Leaderboard, the Orbitals system tracks how many Orbitals (collectible tokens scattered across the racetrack) a player finishes with—and invites intense competition in an electrifying 10-day seasonal cycle

How does it work?

Every player in the MoonKarts ecosystem has their own parallel universe which means he has his own scores , points, earnings and everything. So, every multiplayer race offers two parallel scoring systems. 1) Ranked points earned based on race outcomes.2) Orbital points from collecting Orbitals during the race—boosted by high-quality NFTs and staked Colony tokens, the core governance token of Arcade Colony

As already been explained the MoonKarts is being allocated 50M of Colony tokens annually from the DAO. Both leaderboards reset after each 10-day season, ensuring a fresh start and continuous opportunity for redemption.

This 50M is divided into each 10-day seasons, then each season has its own distribution.

  • Ranked Rewards (per match rewards)
  • On Track Colony Rewards
  • Orbital Leaderboards Rewards
  • Ranked Leaderboard Rewards
  • Referral Rewards

The Orbital Leaderboard controls a massive slice of the rewards pie—40% of total Colony token emissions go to this pool and it's here that the real spoils lie: top-tier racers often earn from hundreds of thousands of Colony tokens per season, dwarfing ranked-play rewards .

This setup incentivizes time, investment, and consistency. A recent competitor highlighted the intense grind, saying, “you literally have to play all day for a whole season… to match the score the top 3 are having right now”

So in order to get a massive slice of this Orbital leaderboard rewards, there needs to have a lot of consideration. Competing in Orbitals isn’t just about racing—it’s about optimizing your setup. Players must stake better gear and Colony to earn orbital multipliers, but these souped-up karts also consume more Fuel—the in-game energy resource. Mastering this balance between gear, stake, and fuel generation can be the deciding factor between glory and obscurity.
