"Since at least 2010, I've been trying to spread the word about the benefits of the distributed ledger" - man that must have been a long and arduous journey.
I can relate... It can be frustrating trying to explain the benefits of crypto and being disregarded, knowing full well that the person will likely change their mind in a few years time.

Indeed. There was a time back then, when I was simply telling people about the free Bitcoin faucet. It gave 5 Bitcoin, and all you had to do was take action to get it. Can you imagine? FIVE. FREE. That's how I got my first crypto. But no one would take action, not even my own family members, who couldn't see the utility of cryptocurrency. They would be worth over $300,000 today. Back then, you couldn't give them away.
I've heard tales of conferences where Bitcoin were given away on leaflets and many of them ended up in the trash when the presentation had finished. I imagine lots of regret being felt these days.
